Hello everyone,
It is hot, hot, hot... well at least in NYC, summer is here finally.
TK seems to be getting ready for a new livery:

Sounds like they are testing the waters with this one. There will be a change with the arrival of 333s and 77Ws, throughout the fleet and this might be the new look.
It is a subtle change, I like it. Will I miss the tulip? I think so.

Here are few other news:
-With the arrival of 333s and 777s in the next few months, TK to start 2 class service to Beijing with 77W according to airlineroute.net.
-IST has 6/24 open now, 18R to get a facelift soon is the new rumor.
-DL to fly 763ER 5 X weekly JFK-IST next winter.
-Besides TK, Pegasus getting couple of 738s, Onur and AtlasJet is getting 330s (probably for Saudia operations) Sky, Turkuaz, Corendon adding capacity.
-Sky to start Turkish domestic operations?
-Still waiting for the first BoraJet Trip Report??

Thanks for all for all your inputs over the years. I have learned a lot from your news, insights, rumors, sense of humor.

I don't think they went the extra mile with the current livery, but it still is ten times better than this boring livery. The only change I would make on the current livery is to use pearl white for the main color or use the ex NW pearl silver it would look so good, regardless its a boring livery and the current livery isn't that old yet, as always its a clusterfu*k TK style.

Funny they brought the full Turkish Airlines blue titles back.

That is what they had in the mid 90s.

Think I prefer the last one.

Looks like AnadoluJet is taking over the SAW STN service from TK upon the start of winter timetable. Are the SAW STN loads poor for premium service?

TK is pushing AnadoluJet as competitors to Pegasus and other LCC's and surely doing it well enough at ESB but can SAW and ESB develop solely relying on LCC's?

Comments welcome...

Why did they get rid of the tulip?!
I don't mind the tail but the 'Turkish Airlines' takes too much space in my opinion...

the first trip report as well as the announcement of the new destinations. I'm really curious to be honest with you. there are destinations like EDO, TJK, ONQ and especially GZP which will see airservice for the first time (hopefully). also flights between NAV and GZP will hopefully generate a lot of demand (tourism)

yeah, I don't get it, really, it's so overcrowded... plus they use 05 for landings and 36 for departures. the same yesterday. on the way back from ADB they put us in holding and extended a 45minutes flight to 1:10h.
I thought with 05 / 36 operations everything will be a little better?

There are some tragic ATC inefficiencies in Turkey.
The air carrier community is trying to push things along such as development of RNAV routings however much of it falls on the shoulders of the government with ATC infrastructure issues, lack of staff, low pay, very old policies, and and poor airspace design(much to be blamed on the military).

I read this one on world bulletin Turkey and Indonesia have signed an aviation agreement under which Turkish carriers will be able to fly to two more destinations in addition to Jakarta.

In a statement on Tuesday, Turkey's civil aviation authority said that the deal was signed on June 18 in the Turkish capital Ankara.

The agreement revises former deal between the two countries, the statement said.

The new agreement allows flights of multiple airlines companies from both countries.

Under the new agreement, Turkish carriers will be able to start flights to two new destinations, Bali and another spot later to be announced, in addition to Indonesian capital of Jakarta.

Indonesian airlines companies will also be able to fly to Ankara and Antalya along with existing destination of Istanbul.

Moreover, the number of weekly scheduled flights between the two countries rose from 4 to 14.

How well is TK doing in Indonesia? What are the loads like? Isn't TK tagging CGK from SIN where would Bali flights come from?

Personally, i like the painting with the tulip much more than the new one...

It is being reported that TK wants to start flights from ESB to Edremit/Korfez and IST-Guangzhou within winter timetable 2010/11. In dependency of aircraft availability they also want to launch IST - Malaga, Valencia, Toulouse and Manila... Sound not bad. 2 dest in the far east, 2 in Spain and a 4th one in France (after Paris, Nice and Lyon)... Malaga surprises me, expected Bilbao or Sevilla...

I guess they do this for crew training.

I flew Bodrum to Sabiha Gokcen yesterday morning by A320 ERDEK is this a new plane ? Also , in domestic flights it is great to use SBW since no circling over Marmara or waiting Istanbul to clear the take off from the Bodrum . Very same day my friend was coming from Dalaman to Ataturk and he had to wait over half an hour in the plain due to trafic in Ataturk . Flight was only 10 minutes late and it took exactly 55 minutes . Very interestingly (at least to me) in 25th minutes of the flight announcement was made about landing ..

But, watch out, according to the news; starting August all TK flights out of SAW will become AnadoluJet flights. It might become more level with Pegasus flight on the same route. Better yet, you can purchase alcohol on Pegasus flights.

I would like to see red where the white is and white where the red is. By the way, it seems pretty rare to see any TK Airbuses flying into Adana these days. Before the was a pretty even mix of Airbus and Boeing, but now it seems to be 738s, 737s, and the occasional 734. Guess they changed their routing? Anyway the dog days of summer are here in SE Turkey. Kizkalesi is a great refuge although I had to pay to sit on the beach   . I always enjoy the profound beauty of this country, and am grateful to be here.
