I have no idea why the forum is munging my HTML code to mess it up, but it keeps appending tags to each other for some reason and inserts shedloads of empty lines...

What's your secret, WestWing?

As a big fan of the A340-500, it's my sad duty to point out that you seem to have doubled up on the order, Stitch.

Still, any A340 order is good (or are these slot swaps for undelivered Kingfisher planes?)

Were the 2 A345s for the Kuwait Government (MSN 1091 and 1102) already listed in the O&D spreadsheet? A while back these two msns were down as going to the Ukraine Government.

Anyone care to explain?

The original data shows two A345 orders for "new" Private Customers.

Ah, OK. The downloadable spreadsheet just shows the one order for 2.

Well its nice too see the A345 get some orders....too bad it wasnt for an Airline....but since the 777 is a better aircraft in every way possible....doubful we will see any orders for the A345...

Airbus had 82 net orders for wide-bodies, and 47 deliveries (whereas Boeing had 39 orders and estimated 38 deliveries)
Boeing used to be "stronger" in the wide-body segment, but it seems like Airbus now is this segment leader.

The opposite seems to be occurring in the narrow-body segment (Airbus 35 orders/201 deliveries, Boeing 94 orders/176 e).
Well ... maybe not on the deliveries right now but Boeing did pronounce a production increase to come.

Part of it is probably that Boeing only has two widebody programs in "delivery production" at the moment - the 767 and 777 - while Airbus has three - A330, A340 and A380. The 777 and A330 programs comprise the bulk of those deliveries, with the 767, A340 and A380 adding one or two frames per month to the mix.

Boeing will see a strong short-term boost once the 787 and 747-8 start deliveries as the initial backlog of production craft are cleared out.

Yup.
But in the next 6 months I expect the B767 and A340output to keep going down while the A380 going up.
And the B787 wont be adding much, or anything, before sometime in first half of 2011 (pending there are no more delays during flight testing or rampup).

Interesting that AirAsiaX has cancelled some A333s - have they picked up birds on lease or are they slowing expansion.

The A345s are intereting too as IT is still showing as having 2 birds on order, wonder if it's a paperwork thing?

That is what I am thinking, personally.

I see the A345's future mostly as conversions from pax aircraft to VIP planes since it's space and fuel capacity are excellent in such a role and the operating economics are not a major issue (if you can afford to purchase an A345, you can afford to operate an A345).

What I find most interesting is the fact that DAE capital still has all 70 A320 and 30 A359 on order. From some news I was expecting that there would be a cancellation of a part of it in exchange for the recent EK order of 32 A388, which is already firm in the sheet.
