With the addition of some more MD-90's to the Delta Fleet in the comming months is there any word of these A/C starting to do more flying on the east coast? I've heard that the planes which are mostly now based in SLC but do see other hubs will be headed to MSP where they can do both coasts non-stop . I also heard a LGA rumor though, which is the basis for my question here.

The NYC M88 base is going to become an M89 base for the pilots
note M89 =M88/M90 base, SLC/MSP/CVG
M88 is just 88s. ATL/NYC. Both will be becoming 89 bases, NYC first.

yep.

Correct, they are going to cross-train the NYC M88 pilots on the MD-90 so they will be a M89 base.

This is primarily to enable more efficient crew and tail routings and substitutions.

As more MD-90 flying on the East Coast, it is primarily going to be to/from MSP & CVG, not p2p routes.

Speaking of DL's MD-90's I believe the newly aquired MD-90 is to make its first revenue flight this week. Not sure of the routing but I believe a stop in SLC is part of it.

I think SLC has officially closed now. Either that or it will be closed by the end of the summer. The MSP and CVG M89 bases seem to have the last of the SLC flying on their bid packets so I'm pretty sure that SLC M89 is now officially closed, especially now that SLC 320 is up & running.

What are some of the MSP westbound routes that will be staples for the MD-90 looking ahead?

There's nothing quite like a tri-jet.
