The main L10-11 is an ATA. But what is the one in the background? Thanks!

Since ATA's route map does not include IAH, what was it doing there?

Thanks

You never know where ATA will turn up. I've seen them at COS.

COS, interesting... But DFW is on their route map. Of course the photo in question was taken one year ago... Maybe they flew to IAH then?

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

ATA is known to operate a charter now and then.

They are a charter airline - go to the main page of airliners.net, type in ATA for "airline" and then see what cities come up. There are cities as far as Ushuaia, Argentina; Sydney, Australia, etc.

Sun Country no longer flys DC-10's and IAH was a major summer charter market for them. ATA took over those widebody flights.

I saw an ATA 727 at YSJ once on a charter, so that just goes to prove that and ATA plane CAN infact show up anywhere!!

DFW IS significant. I have seen ATA L10s here too, yet the only scheduled service in and out of DFW is on their 727s.

I even see old colors ATA 727s here, frequently.

The L1011 is our main Charter Aircraft as it is too large for most of our Scheduled services. We use them mainly on high density charters wherever they are needed and the 72S,752 and upcoming 738 on scheduled services. We do several charter high capacity charters out of IAH mainly in the summer months and basically have 1 or 2 L-1011/1/150 in DFW just about everyday in the summer months.
