Any idea on when AA will move flights over from concourse E (either fully or just from the high E gates)? Also, any idea when the Oneworld partners will move across (ie, BA, IB, LAN, Mexicana) - I assume probably not until the new FIS is open next year?

You will have to wait until mid 2011 before all of the ex terminal A gates are in use the only gate in A scheduled to open in a week is gate D-16.One World partners will be in the areas of gates D-14,12,10,8 and 6 as of now.

Really? Becasue the Mia website states that 16 gates are opening on the 14th. So i would figure that BA and IB would move at around that time.

Why would they move before the FIS is completed? That would mean unloading in one terminal then towing over to the other for departure.

Well, AA flight 592 to LGA is supposed to leave from D20 this afternoon, so if D20 is part of the old Terminal A, it would seem like they are starting to use it already.

I don't think that LAN will be moving over till Fall. The airline operates into MIA 45x weekly, (B763). Also, some a/c will require parking space at MIA; preferably adjacent to Concourse A. Also, last time LAN was in A they used BA's Club. When will BA's Lounge open?

BA would not do this without their lounge. BA will have a totaly new lounge, they operate 2 744 daily to Miami. They are the biggest airline on MIA's biggest international route.

I´ve already used D32 and 33 several times. And I´m almost positive 34 is open as well. D 26-28 are not open yet since that is where the old Concourse C used to be and where the bag room still sitting at.

Last time LAN flew from Concourse A AA didn't have an Admirals Club there, now they will. I don't know if LAN will use the AA Admiral's club or the BA Terraces lounge but AA has the bigger facilities at MIA more capable of handling all those LAN 767 flights. I doubt BA wold want its on passengers overrun in its own lounge by an alliance partners pasengers. Given the similar times LAN and BA have flights in MIA BA would keep their lounge for themselves, also BA has up to 70 J and 14F passengersper flight plus club members.

That might be the case since LAN also has morning departures out of MIA as well.
LAN's morning departures include: MIA-BOG-SCL, MIA-PUJ-SCL, MIA-PUJ-EZE, MIA-CCS-SCL, MIA-CCS-GYE-SCL, etc.

Will there be a Burger King somewhere on D? You would think that with Burger King HQ just south of the airport, there would be a Burger King somewhere on D. The only burger joint is the Corona's about halfway between D20 and the far end.
Since McDonald's HQ is about 20 minutes from ORD, there is a McDonald's on every concourse at ORD plus the food court in T3.

At least LAN no longer uses Miami's Club Americas Lounge! I wish LAN would open their own Salón VIP at MIA; however that is very unlikely since LAN's passengers could use another oneworld member's club at MIA. For example, LAN has significant operations at Madrid-Barajas and uses Iberia's three VIP Lounges: Velázquez, Dali and Goya.

That would make sense, as it would place BA's eventual gate right next to the lounge. I always thought they would be using gates further east, though, such as D1 thru D9 (formerly A19 thru A26), since most of those are heavy gates.
Quoting miaintl (Reply 5): What is taking so long to complete the FIS building? From what i heard the new baggage center is also delayed.
As a general rule, I was taught to take any project length estimates given and multiply them by three for an idea of how long the project will actually take. Unfortunately, delays are just business as usual in Miami-Dade County.
Quoting miaintl (Reply 18): Does anyone know exactly when the new FIS opens? Is it next week aswell?
The files on the MIA website indicate that the FIS will be completed on August 1st, 2011. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it'll open on the 1st.
There are estimated completion dates for just about every aspect of the project there. When the former A gates open this month, they will not yet be able to process international arrivals. They'll be domestic gates until the FIS opens in a little over a year.

I recall seeing a plan last year that showed what shops and restaurants would eventually occupy the North Terminal area, as well as their locations within the terminal. Unfortunately, I don't remember if there was a Burger King in the plans or not, and even if there was, the plan was clearly marked as confidential.
MIA used to have a Burger King in landside Concourses D and E, one cleverly hidden within the Concourse E satellite (there are still traces of it left on the fourth floor if you go exploring up there, but as always, remember to exercise caution and discretion when "exploring" at a major international airport), one in Concourse F between Gates F12 and F14, and one in Concourse G right next to... I want to say it was Gate G8. Now, I believe the only ones left at the one at the landside Concourse E food court, and the one in Concourse F.
On the bright side, after being the first airport to ever have a McDonald's on the property (which, ironically enough, later became a Burger King), we got finally got a McD's back when one opened last year in the South Terminal food court.

Can't come soon enough. I flew through Miami on AA back in October and was quite impressed with what I saw of the new terminal - especially airside - and once this whole construction mess is done, it will totally transform the overall experience for AA customers (both local and connecting) at Miami.

It is rather surprising to me that for an airline as high-quality as LAN, with such a massive operation at Miami, they wouldn't want to have their own lounge and control their premium customers' experience.
