Near Misses In Skies Raise Questions On Ground

I could not find this discussed in the forum - is this just media hype or are near misses becoming more frequent? Are the skies saturated in places?

would have the same meaning but would be far less sensational if written simply:

I just can't figure this quote out at all. She seems to imply that there are pilots and controllers simply humming along, reading the paper perhaps, just waiting for TCAS to advise them.

Yes, airspace is busy and the workload is higher in some areas than others.

Yes, it's a good idea to look at the system and fix as necessary to improve it.

Must have been a slow news day...
