Its been nearly two years since Luxair ceased its service to LHR after flying there for 40 years. Now there is only the LGW flight which is inconveniant for connections. Will BA ever consider trading the LGW flight for a service to LHR?

BA used to serve Luxembourg as a daily A320 service (I think) from LHR alongside Cityflyer Express services from LGW until the late 90's. When BA did their mass cull of short-haul routes from LHR (seem to remember it was 1997 after their big financial loss) Luxembourg was one of the routes that got culled.
It came back to mainline with Cityflyers takeover.

But my point is if BA would ever reconsider restarting the route? I know Luxair made alot of money and carried alot of passengers to LHR and people in Luxembourg were really disgruntled when the service was discontinued.

Oneworld has surrendered this area to *A for connecting traffic.
Iberia have long seized serving Luxembourg
Need to get from USA to Luxembourg easly way is via Frankfurt.
By the way Luxair continue to serve London three times a day into City Airport - VERY handy for those working in the financial industries. - *A Alliance
And Cityjet also serve London CIty Airport - Luxembourg - 3 times a day - Skyteam Alliance.
However given you are in Florida, what would be the difficulty be in using the BA Tampa or Orlando - Gatwick service to connect onto the BA Luxembourg - SAME TERMINAL AND VERY CONVENIENT !

I have family in Luxembourg, and living in Miami I usually take LX thru ZRH or LH thru FRA to get there. But i remember flying thru LHR frequently when there was service.

I believe in 2012 IC trains will connect Luxembourg train station straight to BRU. The journey should take about as long as driving to FRA...

I'm not sure how it is now, but back in the day (circa early to mid '90's) we got a pretty good deal with Icelandic Air from LUX via KEF to BWI (Baltimore, MD). I lived between VA and Germany at the time and that wasn't too bad a drive.
It was actually cheaper than flying UA from FRA to IAD every couple of months.

Quoting sam1987 (Reply 9): I understand BA is actually paid to operate LUX to LGW

Quoting ANstar (Reply 11): more and more short haul flights pull out in favour of long haul ones
Only the ones that depend less on connections. I predict the leisure routes that used to be at LGW (PSA, TLS, GIB, AGP) will move back to LGW to make room for new long haul services at LHR.
