Delta debuted its renovated Sky Club in Los Angeles. Does anyone have pictures and/or experienced the updated club? What was it like?

I visited on Saturday the 17th. Renovation is nearly done. Much roomier, new furniture, self-serve bar, and seems brighter and more open. I liked the old atrium ared, but given the merger with NW the space was badly needed.
The only area still closed off was the old workstation area past the bathrooms. Looks like it will become a quiet zone. Also, showers not open yet.
Looks like a great job by Delta. Terminal 5 was really hopping, even on a Saturday.

The LAX club will serve as the basis in regards to how the future SkyClubs are built and refreshed. The only difference would be the bar area depending on local serving laws (for example, Atlanta and Raleigh will continue to have a bartender due to liquor serving laws in Georgia and North Carolina).

Anybody know what's going on with EWR? They have the Delta Sky Club (former CRC) open all day and the ex-NWA club open across the hall from 3-7pm in conjunction with the Sky Club (two clubs open at once.) Kind of an interesting way to do business but both clubs aren't renovated yet either.

They are doing that as they found that only having the legacy CRC open during those hours when there are a decent number of domestic flights operating to ATL/CVG/DTW/MSP/SLC, plus the Amsterdam/Paris flights as well, was creating too much congestion in that one space.

Integrating the two clubs into one at this point would be tricky, as they are across the hall from each other. In terms of physical facilities, there really isn't room to expand anywhere either.
As for renovations, I think these lounges are further down on the list. My understanding is some of the hub lounges (such as Atlanta and Minneapolis F/G) are higher in the pecking order to be refreshed. My guess is we will see the status quo at EWR for the foreseeable future.

Haven't been throw Term B for a few months now (when they were starting the construction) but I don't recall there being that much extra room for a DL club when it's all said and done unless they wanted to build one pre-TSA.

They haven't opened the areas up yet to the public.

I visited the club a few days ago after arriving from Tokyo. While bigger than before and more user friendly, It's not exactly my cup of tea. I prefer a posher looking and feeling club than this modern style that DL has seemingly adopted. Just a matter of personal taste though; the club is fine otherwise.

There are many Sky Clubs in Detroit, and on the main concourse A, which your LHR will depart from, there are three main Sky Club. One in the center, located right after security, and then there are two Sky Clubs on both west and east ends of the terminal. So just pick the closest one to go to. They are all the same with work stations, self-service beverage stations, and same kind of beverage and snack selection.

The plan is to go to a self-serve (pre-merger Northwest) style where possible. As noted, there are exceptions to this - in addition to North Carolina/Georgia, Virginia (DCA) is the same way.
Keep in mind that one thing that is being considered by Delta management at this time is a SkyClub "Light" at some of the smaller stations. It's unclear what amenities would be part of this lounge set up, but it is very unlikely that a bartender would be part of the arrangement - staffing would be limited to a DL agent, if that (it could be like going back to the old Crown Room rooms where you were told the code to a keypad for entrance).
Also, I've been told that the LAX SkyClub will be a testing ground of sorts with some new things being tried out starting in a few weeks.
This is a continuing trend starting with the new Miami club. Overall it fits into the more macro image that Delta has been trying to portray over the past 2-3 years (see the new uniforms, the safety video, etc.)

All three main ones are pretty much the same. The Center one is a bit larger; the only other difference is the center one has showers and lockers, while the ones on the ends of the tram do not.

So I took a walk up there and looked around the remodeled club.
I'm came away a bit ambivalent. I thought it was a bit too bright in both natural light(maybe bothersome for people on computers), and too bright with the use of some of the colors used (lots of silver, white, and baby and brighter blues).
I would have thought a bit of reserved, business like and use of more earth tones would set the mood a bit better. I'd characterize some portions of the club look more like a hip gym to me then a hotel lobby lets say.
The size enlargement however is obviously good and was needed for the combined operation as I recall the old club could be at capacity even before the NW merger.
Personally I say AA still has the best domestic club at LAX, and the Star Alliance lounge at TBIT is the best overall.
