I was wondering, does anyone know the status of Delta's seat and overhead bin upgrades on the MD-88 fleet? Have any of them been upgraded yet?

While there are no plans to install IFE on the MD-88 fleet, they will at least be getting new slimline seats and overhead bins. I would like to see what it looks like.

Ugh really? Those things are soooo uncomfortable... I already find the CR9 more comfortable than the 738 primarily for that reason...

Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

Actually, I once flew on one of DL's domestic 763s with them, and I actually found them to be surprisingly comfortable. I personally like the way they recline, with the seat bottom moving forward.

I'd love to see M88's with PTV but apparently that won't happen (WIFI is already being installed in large numbers though.) I want to know when the 319/320 will get IFE though!

Oh yea? I actually find them comfortable. I enjoy them but, I must admit, I actually find the NexGen CRJs

From what I heard, what prevents DL from installing IFE on the MD-88 fleet is that there isn't enough room on the relay panel for an IFE system. To install IFE on the MD-88s, it would require replacing the entire relay panel for a larger one. The in-flight Wi-Fi is using the part of the relay panel that was once used for the Verizon Airfone system, which has since been reemoved.

There are no reconfigured M88's flying yet. I do believe that at least one is in for it's refurbishment however. New version will be F16Y134. Rear galley will be removed with additional galley space going up front, along with one oven for first class meals.

So there'll just be a gap for an aisle to the galley door?

Correct. Very similar/same to the used MD90's acquired. Here's a map of the new layout for the M88 and it's an exit row at the door.

I've hear that some reasoning too.
