I had to take a double take today... I noticed a AeroMexico 737-700 holding short of 19L at IAD today. I checked on Flightaware and it came in from Mexico City (MMMX) around 12:45pm. It then departed around 4:45 for Mexico City and then changed its destination to Mazatlan (MMMZ).

Flight in to IAD: AMX6220
Flight out of IAD: AMX6221

Aircraft in use was the GoVisa jet - XA-AAM

I know that AeroMexico doesn't service IAD while Mexicana does... what is with this flight?

Thank you,

My1le

Could be a diversion? I don't know where from since I'm not big into Aeromexico.

I thought about the diversion idea... but it would have continued onto its destination instead of returning to Mexico, right?

With that flight number its most likely a charter. I have not seen AM use 6000 number area for schedule services.

looking at their timetable, they don't use flight numbers 6000-7999 for scheduled operations or codeshares, which I suppose would be consistent with this being a charter.

Alrighty... I thought about charter but not with the short quick turn. I'll keep a look out for it coming back to pick up anyone.

It was a charter flight from Mexico City today - the aircraft will operate the same flight 2 weeks from now on Aug 3.
