SriLankan Airlines yesterday took delivery of its long awaited 5th A330, 4R-ALG ( ex G-WWBB ). Please find below attached some photos of the ceremony and the new Business Class. Photos are from UL's Facebook group.
I'm quite suprised that the delivery flight was not recorded on ACARS, given that UL usually does not operate flights with ACARS hidden.

Can anyone please shed some light into whether these are in fact ex BMI seats ? I have seen the photos of them, but it seems a bit different to me. A few months back UL was considering offers from three manufacturers, including Recaro, to upgrade all widebodies with a larger and flat bed Business Class.

They are still planning to add an A321 by Winter, and launch flights to COK and MOW before 2011. Since coming under full governmental control, apparently they have received some funding, their first in 12 years.

4R-ALG has the same MAS3000 IFE G-WWBB had.

Yup, those are the bmi business and economy seats. Any idea whether the premium economy seats are still fitted?

@bwaflyer No, the config is 18J/236Y. But as per the LOPA I've seen, there's some gap between J and Y cabins. Not sure why they didn't fill it. 254 pax is not bad, but nobody really expects UL to be SQ. So they could've easily filled up a bit more of Y.

Looks like the aircraft is still in it's bmi configuration, although premium economy seems to be missing. With BF the config was 18J 30Y+ 172Y.

The only thing I can think if is that the galley at Doors 2 is really quite large on these aircraft, much larger than I have seen from other A332 operators. Just guessing by the seat count it would seem like the Y+ section has been replaced with standard economy seats.

Next flights: MAN-ORK-LHR(EI)-MAN(BD); MAN-LHR(BD)-ORK (EI); DUB-ZRH-LAX (LX) LAX-YYZ (AC) YYZ-YHZ-LHR(AC)-DUB(BD)

VIDP, it will mainly run on long hauls. Previously the plan was 3-4 weekly LHR flights and the rest spread across PVG/SIN/MXP etc. But now that the 767 serves MXP ( more of that on SriLankan to Moscow thread ), it's unlikely it'll serve MXP either. However, I believe they'll still only operate it to high yielding destinations.
DEL has a low chance of getting upgraded since I believe they are not getting much high loads on this route. But the aircraft will operate to MAA this evening.
Perhaps they will deploy the planned A321 to DEL.

And when is this A321 expected to join UL?

VIDP, it was expected to join by July - when they switched plans and opted for the A330 instead. But last time I talked, they were still looking for an A321 - and now there's talk of adding two narrowbodies by Winter, so one could be an A321. They will definitely need at least one extra aircraft if they are to launch MOW and resume COK as planned.
