Well, it does kind of make sense considering that it would connect two Star hubs, plus TK could try to skim some oil traffic heading to the Middle East, despite having to compete with nonstops. They could probably do it with a A330-200 if they wanted, but I would have to guess that a 340 or 777 is more likely.
Either way, if TK really does want to try to become the next Emirates, IAH wouldn't be a terrible place for them to start.

The actual translation of the Turkish article states that THY does not currently have plans to start Houston in the near future (2011/2012), but it is something that THY is not adverse to considering. Los Angeles and Miami are "in the budget" (LAX already announced).
