AA/B6 Status In SJU; AA Is Remodeling Gates!

Passed through SJU yesterday and FINALLY, AA's terminal is getting a face lift...Gate 11 is already remodeled. Gate 8 is in the process. Anyone knows if B6 is actually moving into AA's SJU terminal? Rumor is B6 will lease some gates from AA in SJU. Wonder if the remodeling has anything to do with that. AA's SJU terminal is operated exclusively by AA and AA is required to maintain and invest on its SJU facilities. AA remodeled the terminal when the SJU hub opened in the late 80's. Now that SJU is not a major hub for AA, they have a lot of unused space and allegedly B6 is moving in w/AA. Can anyone confirm????

Such a move would make sense - most of the AA cutbacks were in fact due to B6, which can help AA restore lost capacity to key markets of BOS, JFK, MCO, FLL, and SDQ. B6 pax gain access to the Eastern Caribbean isles such as STT, POS, etc. and AA's flights to those markets from SJU gain a boost! Win/win to me.

Gosh, what have I missed? I passed through SJU no less than eight times this month, several times through gate 8 and didn't notice a thing. I didn't go beyond gate 9, so I didn't have the opportunity to see 11. All I can say is finally, too!

I'm still sad Martin's BBQ is gone. That was the best food outlet at SJU.

Doesn't Jet Blue have more JFK and BOS to San Juan flights then AA ?

If there's one thing I've noticed about SJU (aside the conditions...that airport really needs a makeover) is that aligned carriers are not next to each other. Only UA and US are on the correct terminal. CO is in terminal C with NK, B6, and some charters. I have noticed that AA moved down into the lower gates of Terminal D and left the upper parts for the AE flights. That's why the ATRs are no longer on the spot they used to be but whether that's for a possible B6 move in or not is beyond me.

It would make sense for AA and B6 to move next to each other, the AA SJU terminal is underused and terminal C were B6 is located is always crowded. I'm not surprised Martins closed down, Im sure it's because business was slow (again the AA terminal is dead for the better part of the day.
All of SJU is a complete dump, it should be bulldozed and rebuilt, when is the new terminal going to open in 2020? I'm pretty sure it will not be inagurated with the current bozo we have for a governor, we will have to wait for the next clown to take control for the airlines to move in.

The AA terminal looks like a dump compared with the other ones.... I really feel B6 is making a BIG mistake by aligning with AA , Here in PR AA is not very popular, because of their terrible service....

Martins was down by Jetblue and all the other carriers, near the pseudo food court with Subway, McDonald's and I think Taco Maker, if it's even still there.

Have you been to the other concourse? It's far better than the AA side, and fairly modern. I certainly wouldn't call that side a dump. But AA's side? Absolutely.

I certainly have been to all the other concourses at the SJU airport, numerous times, terminal B (were US, UA, DL and FL are located) is in desperate need of a renovation. When there are 4 flights in the concourse the place becomes a mad house and God forbid it's on one of the days the A/C aint working because it feels like PHX in July inside the terminal. Terminal C (B6, CO, CM, IB and NK) is the newest and most probably the nicest of all concourses (if it can be called nice). The problem with Puerto Rico is we build new buildings and we dont maintain them, hence they fall in disrepair and look worn. The AA terminal should not look the way it looks, the complete airport should not look the way it looks. I had a work assignent at the station this past May and I went under terminal B were GMD (ground handling company) is located and talk about some poor facilities. Airlines in Terminal B are scremaing for the new terminal to be OPENED because the facilities in the current terminal are subpar and inadequate.

The Subway, McDonalds, El Meson and Taco Maker are pre security right at the entrance of security for terminal C, inside of terminal C we have a Churchs chicken (I believe) and some other eateries that I cant recall. I dont really rememebr were Martin was located, but I could have sworn it was in the AA terminal.
