AA has loaded its new flights from JFK to Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Norfolk, which will exist primarily only to feed its European services. Flights now bookable at AA.com and start November 18th.

AA 4124 IND 1150-1359 JFK Daily ER4
AA 4136 JFK 1700-1930 IND Daily ER4

AA 4056 CVG 1150-1355 JFK Daily ER4
AA 4065 JFK 1700-1930 CVG Daily ER4

AA 3696 ORF 1430-1550 JFK Daily ER4
AA 3695 JFK 1900-2040 ORF Daily ER4

JFK-CVG/IND were originally set for 2x daily, and also RDU-JFK has been reduced from 6x to 4x daily. One of those slots appears to have gone to another JFK-MCO frequency, so it seems like three slots currently unaccounted for, at least that i know of.

Also, JFK-AUS switched to a 738, which means the end of MD80 service to JFK after December 1st.

This is so not pretty. I'm very hopeful the remaining flights are upgraded to the CR7, as was earlier reported, and if not, at least ER4. I know the latter isn't likely, since very few ER4s operate in the NE, but RDU-JFK is short on capacity now. I can't imagine what it will be like come Nov. 18. Yes, RDU-LGA is going all CR7 this winter (albeit with two less flights), but, as well all know, LGA and JFK are two different airports. Very few RDU-JFK pax are local... the vast majority connect to other flights at JFK.

All four JFK-RDU flights are supposed to get CR7s by the end of January, but it is not shown in the schedules yet. JFK-DCA will also get some CR7s.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. If that does indeed happen, overall capacity will increase by nine daily seats based on the current schedule/aircraft mix (3xERD,3xER3).

Good to see AA adding additional feed at JFK, all three cities seem like solid choices where there will be good demand and decent frequent flyer bases for AA. CVG isn't too much of a shocker since DL is down to what, 1-2 daily flights? Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't AA served these three cities from JFK before, or am I thinking of LGA?

It'll be nice to see AA add some capacity into CVG especially with the way DL has been axing frequencies and routes like there is no tomorrow at CVG. I wonder if in the future this will become a B6 route feeding AA European flights? B6 is still looking for an opportunity in the Midwest and AA could steal some transatlantic pax from DL simultaneously in the CVG market.

Next Adventure: TBD

I think the schedule can't be complete yet. JFK-DCA, JFK-BOS and JFK-STL also appear to have been reduced in frequency and JFK-SDQ is going back to 1x daily.

There's still hope for TOL-JFK with the SCASD grant! *cough*

I am wondering if they will add DTW-JFK to help feed international traffic especially with the current rift going on between AA and DL.

Though a big PHF supporter, it's nice to see a new route in ORF. Somebody will give DL some competition   (hopefully)!

It looks like STL loses its 2nd daily flight to JFK in November....anyone know where this slot is going?

The thing is, JFK has hourly limits. They aren't really hard slots. So when you ask, where is this slot going, where is that slot going, it's kind of hard.

All 12 of the B6 slots given to AA were unused, so there is a way to temporarily hold onto a slot that is not being used.

What we are seeing AA do here, and DL to some extent to, is maximizing slot use at JFK. The days of 50 seaters being in line behind widebodies is quickly coming to an end. All of the feed cities will evenutally have fewer flights with larger equipment so AA can maximize it's hub with the same amount of slots.

Also, I know MAH4546 is a big AA fan and will get mad at me for saying this, but AA has a long history of saying they are going to do something in NYC and not actually doing it. So yes, they said JFK-RDU would be CR7s, but until it's loaded, don't take it to the bank.

I remember when the big announcement was an MD80 from LGA-RDU-AUS a few years ago. AA made such a big deal that they were reducing the ridiculous freq on RJs between LGA and RDU and using a mainline product. They even distributed a faux Newsday with AAs committment to NYC and this was one of the service highlights. I still have it! It also mentioned JFK-Stansted and the new Terminal 8. I have to dig that thing out of the drawer and follow up.

Point is, AA has spent the last decade or so making service announcements to and from JFK and LGA. Reality is, at the end of the day they have stayed in the same safe holding pattern that they have been in in NYC for a while.

One service they added that stuck (and it surprises me to this day) is JFK-LAS. I have to give credit where credit is due.
