Alitalia ordered new 747-400's to replace some of their old -200's (let me tell you, they need to get rid of those pieces of crap). They then changed their order to 777's. Does anyone have any clue when they will get them?

I think they are getting 777-200's with the 777-300's on option it seems like AZ are cutting capacity though they have 8 742's and only 6 772's on order. I also thought that they were going to replace the MD11's.
I think AZ will eventually order more 777's.
Deliveries will start at either the end of 2001 or start of 2002, anybody no exactly.

It has been discussed to death, anyway, here you are again.
Alitalia placed firm orders for 6 B777-200ER with GE90-94B engines, 6 options for B777-300ER with GE90-115B and six more rolling options for unspecified versions so they have a potential of 18 aircrafts to replace B747-200Bs and to implement capacity.
