According to this article from the Puget Sound Business Journal:

http://www.bizjournals.com/seattle/s...6/daily14.html?s=industry&i=travel

"As we celebrate one year of service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, we are pleased to strengthen the bridge for West Coast travelers wanting to explore Europe," said Thorsteinn Egilsson, Icelandair's general manager for the Americas. "Alaska Airlines' route network complements passengers connecting throughSeattle on Icelandair. With nonstop service to Reykjavik, Iceland, and connections to over 20 of Europe's most popular destinations, our passengers can stop over in our beautiful homeland of Iceland for no additional airfare."

AS has always been skillful in partnering. With this, they can take some west-coast Europe-bound pax away from the bigger airlines. Maybe even create a Reykjavik-Hawaii market, for people who want a real change of scenery!

Talk has been about DL taking them over--but I think they are fine as is.

It's too bad that their schedules are not compatible to connect.

I wouldn't go there if I were you. LOL!

That is unfortunate. That would make the codeshare just a random, happenstance kind of thing, more for FF mile users than connecting pax. Hopefully their connections to AK and the Pac NW will be more compatible. We will see when the schedules are loaded. (Maybe they have been already--haven't checked.)

I just have an irrational wish to see Hawaiians vacationing in Iceland and Icelanders in Hawaii--connecting at SEA or ANC. They could compare volcanos LOL.

Those are rational city-pairs. Good luck to them!
