Seeing that the LH MIA-DUS route has been in operation for almost two whole years, do you think it is the time that LH suggests upgrading it to year-round? The flight has seen good loads and strong yields and is going daily this winter, is this a suggestion that the flight will stick around for next summer? MIA can surely handle extra european flights during summer season and this would help because MIA's european network is pretty small during the summer season. For the moment the flight ends in April 2011, but might this change considering LH has not updated their summer schedule yet.

Traffic in the summer is more from Miami to Europe during the winter it is more from Europe to Miami. Since DUS is not a large hub like MUC or FRA it will be a bit harder as loads are much better with Germans coming from the DUS area to MIA during the winter. I am sure there are some people in the DUS area coming to MIA in the summer but not in the same numbers. Air Berling does MIA-DUS year round if I am correct which makes more sense since going to Miami in the summer is a cheaper vacation then coming there in the winter.

LH would have to give up DUSYYZ in summer
Well, LH already gives up YYZDUS during April, May and October so that MIADUS can operate at the start and end of the summer timetable.
That being said, I don't see it going year-round.
Why do they "have" to give it up? Is their utilization really that tight?

Well MIA-MUC is now year-round but it is only 3x weekly, so it hardly makes a dent in Miami-europe traffic. I think MIA-FRA is the only route LH can sustain daily and year-round.

But thats only for the winter season, it might go back to 3x weekly in Summer 2011.
