I heard this mentioned on the news this morning.

From what I understand, an SQ A333 was taking off while an AN-124 was told to "Hold short of Runway 05." The pilot of the AN-124 understood the instruction to mean "Across Runway 05" and crossed in front of the SQ A333. The SQ pilot took off to avoid the AN-124.

Report (in Mandarin) and animation here: http://tw.nextmedia.com/animation/in...07/video_issueid/20100819/sec_id/5

Anyone have any further information? I have no idea when this occurred.

This local media report tries to make the case that this is the latest in a series of issues at the airport:

I'm surprised at the quality of the animation clip! That seems like a lot of work for an "incident".

a lot of animated shows these days are done in Taiwan even if they are released under big studio names so there is probably no shortage of very experienced people there willing to do this for a news studio!

Very informative clip, but I hope I don't get fired for some of those ads below the video.

NMA are famous for their news reportage clips. They had a famous one with Sarah Palin which was hilarious.

Are runway incursions a big problem at TPE? I would be surprised because the airfield layout isn't the kind where you have to cross a runway to get somewhere.
