Last night (8/18/10), TSA agents missed a passenger with a knife and let him through security, only to have the passenger turn it in by them self later on. Then they find a smoke bomb in a bag the size of dynamite, and pull out to show the other agents. Both passengers got to board their planes too! What is going on here??

Well, that somebody forgets to take a knife out of their pocket shouldn't mean that he/she cannot board their flight.
I mean, the pax actually turned the knife in.
OTOH, why anybody would carry a smoke bomb on is beyond me.

Just as well he turned it in and did not stick in someone.

TSA was too busy looking through old ladies purses for cash, confiscating ipods, and harassing flight crews to deal with potential terrorism.

Yes also harassing passengers about that their bag is too big so they have to check it and cannot go through security screening (happened to me in terminal B twice.)

I don't see why EWR even bothers to have security anymore. I'd swear I hear some story like this every week. And it's always at EWR!
