Apparently there has been a phone threat called in on AA24.

CNN reporting from AA that all passengers need to be re-screened. Plane (767) is parked at a remote area at SFO

AA flight status - Cancelled.

Apparently there was a threat of a hijacking. Someone on board tweeted from the plane, saying that there was no hijacking on the aircraft and that the atmosphere is calm on board.

We can all do without this stuff (could have used another word beginning with 's')!!

Whoever they are, should they be guilty, I would hope they are sporting a couple of bruises now....

Bomb threats are still phoned in on a regular basis, but airlines have sophisticated methods of assesing the threat. It is rare enough that a phone threat ends up in a cancellation - usually it is possible to deduce hoaxes, or even to put in place extra security measures to eliminate any possible threat (re-screen, complete aircraft and pax search, change of aircraft etc). To outright cancel the flights means this was taken quite seriously indeed, and would indicate there was something about the call / threat that made it stand out.

Why do you think they put the "safety" clause in there?

Here's the detailed coverage from Twitter - two passengers on-board the airplane tweeting, and the American Airlines Twitter account engaging them, and other media, actively. Quite a good response from AA it seems

Something is going on and not being told to the public. Last night over NYC fighter planes were all over the place, security at Grand Central 3x's what it normally is, police and National Guard at the LIRR station @ Flatbush Avenue. Its was certainly very very weird.

Maybe for good reason?

What does this have to do with an incident in SFO?

Oh I don't know, those arrested could have been part of a plan to attack NYC again? Or they received more credible intel on those areas. It very well could have a big involvement into what happened at SFO. The federal agencies are being very quiet about this and there IS a reason.

well what did Boston have to do with newyork back in 2001? or with the flight over PA, It could have been anything, with something happening on that flight and then something in new york.
