I would guess that the worlds #1 widebody airport is JFK. Almost every major airline within the range has atleast one route to NY, preferably to JFK. The NY area does also have other airports that can handle single aisle a/c.

I doubt it is Kennedy, as Delta and American bring a lot of narrowbodies in there. My guess would be Tokyo, because Japan has a lot of widebody domestic flights, and Asian international flights are done by widebodies.

I don't think it's EWR, CO's narrow bodies are too numerous.

I vote for LAX, but have never been to NRT.

I would have to say flat out it is Hong Kong... only very few flights are operated by narrowbody aircraft, and most regional flights see widebody service. Tokyo Narita may win for highest percent of OPS with 747s though, I read that at one point 70% of all flights in and out of NRT were flown by 747s.

I agree that Hong Kong is probably at or near the top of the list. However, Singapore's Changi Airport must be rather close in that race. It is home to Singapore Airlines which has an all-widebody fleet. Granted, their subsidiary, Silk Air, has an all narrow-bodied fleet but it is a small one. Most of the other carriers in the region send wide-bodies into Changi. I think it's a STATUS thing! Even Malaysian Airlines, sends in some A330's and even some 747-400's from Kuala Lumpur, which is just "up the road". In addition, all of the major, non-regional international carriers send in their heavies as well.

Does anyone else agree?

My dad has been to HKG, and NRT.. He says that just about every airplane there is a 747 of some kind.. It has to be one of those two.

Fact: NRT has the most 747 movements of any airport in the world.

But, HKG might have the record for most widebodies (of any type) -- but I'm not sure about this.

Definitely, it's one of those two Asian airports, since most intra-Asian flights use widebodies, unlike in US or Europe.

Hong Kong is not that busy though, maybe it has the highest percent but not the most.

What about London or Frankfurt. They have widebodies to North/South America, Asia, and Africa.

If we're talking about percentages, I still stay that Singapore's Changi Airport is way up there. Check out this website.

In my numerous trips to Tokyo-Narita, I have yet to see a single narrow-bodied jetliner there. I'm sure that Haneda has some A320 flights to regional Korean destinations and to Japan, but I think that Narita is the Wide-bodied king.

However, I guess it depends on how you want to define it - % of overall traffic, % of overall pax carried, total A/C movements?

Hello everyone,
I hope this isn't too boring for you, but here is what used to be a typical day at Hong Kong - Kai Tak (in fact, Kai Tak's last day). Gives you an impression of the widebody density.
Best regards...Heinz

ATL is the world's busiest but think of DL's 737s, MD-80s, 727s and 757s. Definitely NOT ATL, sorry.

Ok, I read throught that list, 2 questions: What was a Varig MD-11 doing there? What was the ATA Tristar doing there?

Ok maybe an ATA charter but does Varig charter planes? I don't think so...

I read in a Travel magazine.....

"The worlds ten busiest international airports......
....They are in order of large jets handled daily"
Narita
Heathrow
Hong Kong
Los Angeles
Singapore
JFK
Bangkok
Frankfurt
Tapei
Sydney
I dont know what they mean by "large Jets" though.........

Theres a few interesting ones though, Taipei???

Sam  Big thumbs up
