Change In Scheduling Plans For BA 77W?

BA announced that they would fly the new 777-300ER (G-STBA) to four cities, DXB, DEL, BOM and ORD. So far, since its inauguration on 8-31, it has only made the run to BOM. Is this a planned change or has the new schedule just not taken affect yet?

AFAIK it is the latter. After opening with several return flights to BOM I believe 'BA is due to operate out of LHR to:

Day 1: No service (maintenance?)
Day 2: DEL (BA257)
Day 3: ORD (BA297)
Day 4: DXB (BA107)
Day 5: BOM (BA297)
Day 6: DEL (BA257)
Day 7: BOM (BA297)

However I thought that the above would be implemented after the first three rotations to BOM which has not happened. So perhaps there has been another change of plan.

I suspect that the prime determinator as to routes used in the coming months will be freight rather than passenger demand. Indeed it is possible that it is not coincidence that all of the above destinations except BOM are currently served by BA World Cargo's dedicated 744F aircraft operated ouit of STN. And these are due to be replaced by a small fleet of the larger 748F in early 2011. So the 77W may be being used as a bridge until the arrival of the larger freighters. On the other hand I may be barking up the totally wrong tree. We'll have to see.

I think they are waiting on STBB to arrive at LHR (2/3 weeks time) to vary the timetable up a bit too but yes ORD and DXB are on BAs radar for the 77W.
