Hello all,
I'm doing research for my oneworld RTW trip (as any of you who peruse Polls and Prefs on occasion have undoubtedly figured out!) and I'm trying to figure out what the best airlines to fly are.
I know that when AY received its 5th A333 last year, it had a new, full-flat J configuration. How many 333s does AY have now? Are all but the first 4 in the new configuration? Are there plans to upgrade the first 4, and/or the 343s to the new J cabin?
Lastly, do they operate the new configuration on AY 74/73?

I'm afraid I cannot answer your questions but simply add another one! I recall reading a press release about AY getting some new uniforms at the same time they recieved their A330s did this ever happen? Or has it been delayed for some reason?

There are seven A333s in AY fleet at the moment, regs OH-LTM/N/O/P/R/S/T, and LTU will join the fleet in November. That should also be the first aircraft in the new livery. There are three different cabin configurations at the moment. LTM/N/O/P have J42Y229 with angeld J-seats, LTR is J45Y218 with lie-flats and LTS/T/U have J32Y265 also with lie-flats. If you can give me the dates of your flights I can check which configuration they are planning for that rotation. All current A343s have the same J42Y227 cabin, but there is no official news on how the two ex-AF A343s will be configured. Also no news about reconfiguring the the A343-fleet with lie-flats.
New uniforms have been designed but they were put on hold due to the financial crisis. AY-logo, livery and all material will be renewed in November with a cost of €25M.

Are there any pictures available of the new uniform? I really like the one they have now, I hope they do not make big changes!
Quoting AA1818 (Reply 3): When/ Why are Ay rebranding. Didn't they just rebrand a few years ago?
To me it feels that they rebrabded only a few years a go as well, but it was actually early 2000 when they came out with the new livery and uniforms. And I guess Finnair has changed from those days quite a lot so maybe it is time to revise the corporate image as well.

Oh no... they better come up with a good livery, because I really like the current one. The current livery looks very smart and reflects Finland beautifully.
About the new uniforms: I just stumbled upon this old blog post: link

Quoting AA1818 (Reply 3): That was slipped in very quietly!!!
Yes the same feeling in HEL... Just heard the new brand is on the way, but no details yet. Well AY is known for quick moves.

You would expect also the HEL-SIN route gets the new lie-flats àla SWISS, sounds like a promising business route.

Just curious is there an internal code to differentiate between the A330s with angled lie flat seats and the ones with the new flat seats?
CX sues 33B to designate the A330s with flat seats, and does AY have a particular coding system? I have access to expert flyer and wonder if they will display different codes.

There are version codes for different cabin configs for example 3600 equals J42Y229 for A330-300 and subcode 3600K means J30Y241, where two last rows of J-cabin are in economy-use. But these codes are used only internally and not visible to the travelling public. Lie-flats are distinguished most easily by the registration, which I explained in my earlier reply.

AY's booking engine gives the options 333/330, dont know if those are the codes for angled/lie-flats. Anyone knows?
