Looks like DL started their new schedule today. The MD88's to ATL are now replaced with a NW flight # DC-9-50. I assume the 9 and the 88 had around the same number of seats. The MD88's have been coming here since the 732's were retired. Though,Dl did send a 73G here for a few days in June. Glad I got some nice shots of it. We dont get any 737's here much, anymore. Doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate to get a descent picture of it,today.

Sorrt to burst your bubble, but the DC-9-50 was a one-time thing just for today only. It goes back to an MD-88 tomorrow and for the forseeable future.

I remember at least twice flying in/out of ROC on the -40 as well during the NWA days.

SeatGuru.com lists 142 seats for the 88 and 115 for the -50.

Hoever I am Glad to see a -50 on the STL-ATL route!!! May look a little rough around the edges but the -50 Overheads are bigger and better than the 88's or 90's and IMHO ride a bit quieter and smoother than the MD's especially in Seat 1A

Sorry it is a limited affair in ROC

as to seating ..16F/109Y = 125 -50
14F/128Y = 142 '88's

Any body notice Seatguru .com removed the -30 and -40 seating charts

DC-9-50's used to be regular at ROC, on the DTW route, only a few years ago. I have a picture of one at gate A4 on MyAviation.net that I don't have time to search right now. As noted by Western 727, it's a smaller aircraft than the MD-88.

Is Delta using anything bigger than CRJ's on ROC-DTW nowadays? Earlier in the summer it was 5x daily CRJ, a capacity cut of at least 30 percent from last year. Barely a year ago there were two daily DC-9-30's in the mix. 100-seat aircraft have been a staple of that route since it started in 1984, and for many years there were 150-seat a/c (722's) too.

Rochester has really taken it you-know-where on capacity cuts this year, and not just from DL. I'm not buying that the market is that weak.

Jim,it's all CR2's. On the bright side,B6 is bring back the A320's on some flights to JFK.MCO is still a 190,maybe it will be upsized for the holidays and easter/spring break.

Gorgeous photo- thanks for braving the weather.
I wish the -30s had stuck around a bit longer. Granted, they were beginning to turn into the DC-3 of the modern era, but still... I sure liked 'em.
So I'll take the -50s as long as we can spot them!

I think once in a blue moon you see a CR7 or CR9 on the route, but usually its a 50-seat CRJ or ERJ.

Great picture, United Fan!

N775NC means that back in the day she wore this beautiful classic livery (sorry, only shots with Republic titles in the database):

Every time I see a Citgo Widget on a '50, I think Herman! I remember when Republic entered Rochester in 1984, and Herman joined our apron for a few proud years (even if we missed North Central itself). In 1987, I flew ROC-DTW on a -50 that had been painted in classic Northwest colors, before the bowling shoe. I was glad to log a few a/c in those colors.

Glad to hear B6 is bringing back some 320's. Again, no way ROC is that weak. Our capacity cuts merit some phone calls by Sen. Schumer to airline executives, especially at DL, US, and FL.

I was... uhh... busy last night... and I slept late. At 2:35 I was in my friend's room ordering her chinese food from Lin's Garden.

I actually remember hearing something, but I just figured it was a MD-88 landing or something like that. The one day I don't think to look at FlightAware...

Slightly off topic but HOU will receive a DL D95 from ATL as well. That's in addition to 2 MD-88's from ATL.
