Airtran Deliveries 2011

This press release came out today stating that Airtran has secured financing for all 2011 737 deliveries. Does anyone know how many aircraft they are taking? Any chance of any 800s?

For 2011, FL is taking 2 717s from Bangkok Airways and 4 73Gs from Boeing. All are supposed to be delivered in the first half of the year. No 800s yet.

For crying out loud! Airtran should change their name to Boeing since they seem to only be in the business of selling or leasing out their aircraft. Quite a business plan. Will these guys ever grow again?

The two 717s arrive in February. The 737s are scheduled for delivery in March, April, May and December. AFAIK, FL will be keeping all of them. Several hundred new pilots and flight attendants will be hired between now and the spring.

They will be taking delivery of SIX planes 4 737-700's 2 717's. 3 737s in first half of the year 1 at the end of next year along with 2 717s in the beginning of the year. They were suppose to take delivery of a few more 737's but they deferred those so the grand total for 2011 will be 6. The new ones will have life rafts and all the trappings for further over water flying. Crews are being trained as we speak.
