Interesting that total seat capacity to/from Dubai now exceeds JFK for the first time based on September OAG schedule data. The gap can only widen as more of EK's 90 A380s on order are delivered.

I wonder what percentage of those seats are EKs given the fact that 91 other Airlines operate scheduled passenger flights from Dubai and that number will rise to around 106 over the winter season.I would estimate EK to have around 60 percent.

Good for DXB .... Way to go EK!
So, those frames that they took delivery of are full and their business model is working just fine

I have cut 4 times, and it's still short.

I think the real test for EK is not now but in the coming decades. Thats a seriously large amount of capacity to fill and with other neighbouring carriers and cities ambitions just as large, it may not be pretty.

Not really, If I get this right it is seats and capacity on offer, and not filled up seats we are talking about.

Edit:
Let me correct myself... I just checked year to date data, and DXB went past JFK in that terms too... so good job DXB  bigthumbsup

This is the UAE Government dumping capacity below cost in a bid to take over the world

Seriously though, congrats to DXB. That they are now bigger than JFK is definitely a significant step. LHR next...

Wow! I obviously knew that other airlines fly to DXB, but I didn't realise there were that many. What this suggests to me is that there *is* an O&D market to Dubai regardless of what many people say. (again I obviously knew there was, but 91 airlines flying there suggests it's bigger than many give it credit for)

This is the list of Confirmed Scheduled Operators for the 2010/2011 winter season but expect more to be confirmed in the next month or so plus the usual Russian charter companies and Cruise charters.Haven't seen anything regarding the Costa Cruise charters which usually use Condor/TUI and Air Italy. Additions and corrections welcome.
