Today there is a Frontier A319 parked at AUS. Of course, as is with any rare aircraft at AUS, it is parked in an area where it is impossible to get a clear shot.

Flight 9426 Arrived at 2:30PM from DEN

Flight 9427 was supposed to depart at 4:10PM for DEN but has not yet left.

Anyone know what this flight was for? Charter? Other?

2 possibilities:

1. Charter
2. Diverted from IAH, but they usually fly 737s to IAH.

At least until now, Frontier has flown 737's to pretty much everywhere they fly.

The weather here at IAH is fine.

It wasn't a diversion. The flight schedule was DEN-AUS-DEN.

A few possibilities:

1. Test market?

2. Employee thing?

3. Dry run for pilots?

4. No idea

Frontier's new A319 is still going through FAA qualifications. It is not in revenue service yet. It made a brief visit to MSP last week. Unfortunately I was out of town and didn't get to see it. It's scheduled to go into revenue service June 21, unless the FAA finishes early. This information is straight from Frontier personnel at DEN...

Thanks for the info Mark. I was driving towards my home today and saw an aircraft approaching the airport. Was watching it and thinking "that looks like...." and off to the airport I went. Sure enough, it was what I thought it was.

The A319 is now scheduled to depart AUS at 7:10PM (CDT).

Frontier's A319 was suppose to fly into BWI sometimes this summer for either a test flight but it has been moved to a different date. But however, Frontier plans to fly the A319s on a regular basis route from BWI-DEN-BWI starting this September.

As I stated in my original post, the plane was parked in an area that is nearly impossible to get a good shot of.
Here is the best I could do. Taken from inside the terminal with a 300mm lens and 2x teleconverter.

There were no paying passengers on this flight as far as I know. Still unclear to the purpose of this flight since Frontier isn't an airline that services AUS.

The plane was parked near the control tower the entire time it was here.
