Something from the previous thread from our Member Ojas.

Etihad Airways will launch 4 flights per week on AUH - BLR sector using an A320 from 1st Jan 2011. From 27th March 2011 it will go daily.

Here are the following changes to take place while the RWY 27 is under repair. The winter 2010 schedule, RWY 9-27 will be shut from 9am - 5pm on all days except Sundays. the secondary RWY 14 - 32 will be in use.

Alot of flight schedules and timings have been changed to make ops convenient.

Cheers!

Air India plans to sell 6 Boeing cargo planes.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/Air-In...-cargo-planes/Article1-604867.aspx

Quote:
National air carrier Air India plans to sell its six Boeing freighters with indications that the airline may shelve its plans to spin off its cargo business into a separate subsidiary. “We are looking at selling out our six Boeing 737-200 freighters as the plan to have a dedicated cargo business through a subsidary is unlikely to take off now,” Air India sources said here.

Air India would be inviting tenders from the interested companies shortly to phase out these aicraft, sources said. Besides, the airline has already put on sale its four A-310 freighters, they said.

After a lot of changes here is what Air India's B777 utility will look like from the winter schedule. DEL - ORD and DEL - HKG will be a daily B77W while DEL - LHR will be 14 weekly B77L.

B777-200LR:

Air India has 8 B777-200LRs in their fleet with no more on order.

* BOM - EWR daily ... 2
* DEL - LHR double daily ... 2
* DEL - FRA daily ... 1
* DEL - NRT 4pw ... 1
* DEL - CDG 4pw ... 1

That is a usage of 6-7 aircrafts, leaving 1 B77L extra.

For DEL - CDG, As announced earlier as daily B77Ws has been changed to 4 pw B77L. So the net increase on DEL - CDG will be 3pw B77L to 4pw B77L.

B777-300ER:

Air India has 12 B77Ws in their fleet, with 3 on order.

* DEL - ORD daily ... 2
* DEL - JFK daily ... 2
* DEL - YYZ daily ... 2
* DEL - HKG daily ... 1 (this light continues to KIX on 3 days of the week and to ICN ont he other 4 days)
* BOM - LHR daily ... 1

That is usage of 8 aircrafts. Even with 1 back up aircraft, AI is left with 3 extra B77Ws.

So that is an extra of 1 B77L + 3 B77W. Looking at the utility it is obvious that European routes desperately need the A330/B787. The reports of acquiring 4 A330s will only be done if AI is successful in leasing out the B777s according to some press sources. Thus eliminating any unnecessary burden.

B747 - 400:

Air India has 5 B747-400s in their fleet which are operational.

* BOM - RUH 6pw
* DEL - RUH 2pw
* CCJ - TRV/COK - RUH 3pw
* HYD - JED 2pw
* CCJ - JED 5pw

3 aircrafts at he maximum are required to do these routes, and at times the 4th is required when BOM/DEL - JED is operated by a B744 instead of an A332. One B747-400 acts as a VIP aircraft for politicians.

A330-200:

* BOM - JED 4pw
* DEL - JED 3 pw
* BOM - DEL - PVG .. 4pw

AI has 2 leased A332s. 1 aircraft does JED and one aircraft does PVG. BOM and DEL to JED operate on alternate days.

A310:

Air India has 6 A310s in their fleet.

* BOM - DMM 2pw
* DEL - DMM 2pw
* HYD - DMM 2pw
* MAA - DMM 2pw
* CCJ - DMM 3pw
* TRV - DMM 4pw
* CCJ - RUH 4pw

2 aircrafts are required to do the above operations.

Jet Airways wide body aircraft utility isn't that complex.

B777-300ERs:

They have 3 B77Ws in service while 7 are leased out to TK and TG.

* BOM - LHR double daily ... 2
* DEL - LHR daily ... 1

LHR has a total of 19 weekly B77Ws + 2 weekly A332s. The 2 weekly A332s are normally operated on Tu, We either on DEL - LHR (9W 122/121) or on the late night BOM departure (9W 120/119)

A330-200:

9W has 10 owned A332s + 2 leased A332s. The 2 leased A332s are meant to do the DEL - BRU - DEL-BRU-BOM-BRU-EWR ... 2
* MAA-BRU-JFK ... 2
* DEL - HKG ... 1
* DEL - MXP ... 1
* BOM - HKG ... 1
* BOM - SIN ... 1
* BOM - JNB (5pw) ... 1

That leaves 1 backup aircraft, thus utlising all of their wide body aircrafts.

******************************************************************************
Rumor:

9W is going to receive the B777s from TK this January. Rumor mills suggest that BOM/DEL - HKG will be upgraded to a B77W permanently and so will BOM-BRU-EWR in mid 2011. It is still for speculation as to what they will do with the 4 freed A330s. DEL - SIN is lined up for a A330 for sure, the remaining 3 might be used to open up new routes.

You may not be able to purchase it from Etihad directly, however you can book it from travel agents and other distribution networks. Loading it immediately on the website is one of the few things that they do once they finalise some pricing discounts and other stuff.

In the picture I tried to do a booking through travelocity and it prices it. So it has very much been open for booking from the 29th.

Those are the B777-200LRs that you occasionally see in DXB. The ex- UA B777s are no longer in service. Besides from winter the AI 717/716 rotation will go back to the A321.

Quoting AirIndia (Reply 16):

I doubt so, 9W will rather approach a 3rd daily BOM - DXB than going for an A332. The leftover A332s at best would be used to open up HYD-BRU-ORD/IAD or open up routes like BOM - NRT, BOM - PEK/PVG and so on.

As the process to infuse Rs 1,200 crore as additional equity in Air India takes shape, the national carrier might ask for another Rs 2,000 crore from the government in the next financial year to repay its massive debt, official sources said today.

The airline would require Rs 3,000-Rs 4,000 crore annually to pay off its debt, which is primarily on account of aircraft induction, according to an official estimation.
