According to the Daily News & Economic Review of Turkey http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.p...n=los-angeles-next-door-2009-12-29 Turkish Airlines (THY) is interested in serving Montreal (the second last paragraph). It will be a great new venture for Montreal.

The article says SGN is to be flown via DAC...lol...its via BKK.

Though I do know for a fact that TK are seriously examining expanding their Indian Subcontinent presence in 2011 by adding DAC, CMB and MLE flights.

DAC is being looked at with a 4 weekly A 332 nonstop terminator service where as CMB is being looked at 5 times per week to be operated via MLE using either an A 343 or A 333.

Due to the Pakistani Govt lobbied by PIA, TK is blocked from operating to ISB and LHE which it really wants to do so asap. ISB was being planned with a 4 weekly A 332 service.

Turkey is lobbying Canada to expand the bilateral again to allow additional Toronto frequencies, and eventually a 2nd service point which could be Montreal.

DAC will ops should be via KHI. I've seen the schedule which was submitted to authorities two weeks ago. Proposed start date is December 24th using mix of A330/A340 4x weekly.

If TK does start service to YUL, i wonder how that will impact other airlines at YUL, most notably RJ.

Turkish Airlines will be officially announcing the launch of 4 new flights to DAC-Dhaka, Istanbul flown via Karachi using an A 340 effective Dec 24th 2010. TK will not have 5th freedom rights on the KHI-DAC sector but has confirmed in the below mentioned articles that as soon as more B 773ERs get delivered, they will be used to operate IST-DAC nonstop terminator services which will be a MASSIVE THREAT to the Middle East carrier's EU and North America bound market share to/from Bangladesh.

For more information, see below:

Article 1: http://www.bangladeshmonitor.net/news_detail.php?nhid=1760&CID=1

Article 2: http://www.thedailystar.net/newDesign/news-details.php?nid=156375

The articles too mention that TK will also be launching new KUL and SYD flights next year!

IMO, I doubt that they would put a premium B 77W on IST DAC and instead an A 333 would be used!

If YUL is granted it would be great to see them on alternating days with the YYZ flights. And if it is granted watch for EK to go into hyper mode with its PR to gain additional slots.

If the Canadian Govt grants more access to TK into Canada, it will be based on the fact that there are over 40,000 Turkish Canadians living in Canada (mostly in Montreal and Toronto), thus accounting for O&D traffic between Canada-IST.

EK can't even compare with that kind of O&D on Canada-DXB.

Will it be IST-KUL-SYD with 5th freedom rights between KUL and SYD? I wonder what kind of plane TK would use for this... A332s?

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

And in addition to that, there are many other nationalities living in and around Montreal which would benefit from a TK connection. AC has evinced no interest (as far as I can see) in serving anywhere in the ME other than TLV, so why would Canada deny this?

For much the same reason, DTW would probably be seen as the next US destination (leaving aside IAD and ATL, already announced). Any chance of their returning to MIA?
