Quote: Iran, Egypt to resume direct flights after 31-year freeze
October 4, 2010
Civil aviation and tourism officials agree to begin 28 weekly flights between the two countries, though a start date is unclear. The deal could be 'a prelude' to renewed diplomatic ties for the regional rivals.
Iran and Egypt, two countries that long have been openly hostile to each other, made a surprise agreement Sunday to resume direct flights for the first time since radical clerics ousted Iran's monarchy in 1979.

Good news to see any new routes; I am just wondering what acft would be used; presumably IR would use A310s and MS, probably 738s or the odd 332?
Where do pax fly via, now? Oddly, the most direct route - as the crow flies - is probably via AMM, but there are no direct flights between IKA and AMM either (yes, I know TLV is also there as well, but LY is probably not going to be doing that route anytime soon!). As far as I can see, DAM, BAH and DOH would probably the most popular en route points.

From what I understand Dubai is the big connection point with the slew of Iranian carriers serving multiple cities.
From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California
