Quoting juanchito (Reply 1): There was also big changes with Iberia
Iberia recently entered into a code-share agreement with TACA in order to strengthen its Central American network.
Iberia launched flights to San Salvador in El Salvador from 2 October. The airport will become a new distribution center for Iberia, with connecting flights to other regional destinations such as Managua, San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa through a code-sharing agreement with TACA Airlines. The four new weekly flights, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, will also allow travellers to connect to other Central American cities with TACA, and to other European cities from Madrid with Iberia.

This fact did not start as recent as described. The code-share agreement IB-TA is active since some years backward.
The new topic is the utilization of SAL as the new connecting center for the triangular IB MAD-GUA-SAL-MAD.

Same with the code-share between AV and IB.
This November, TACA will code-share on Sky Airline SCL-LIM route 5x weekly. On December 15, 2010, TACA will launch LIM-BSB 3x weekly (E90) and on Janurary 14, 2011, TACA will launch LIM-ANF 3x weekly (E90) .

TA LIM-MDZ 3x weekly. Starting on December 01st
TA LIM-MIA 7x weekly. Starting on December 01st
TA SAL-TGU-MIA 7x weekly. Starting on November 15th
It's good to see that expansion on TACA, but the disadvantage consists in many routes allowing no more than three weekly flights out of Lima: TA LIM-POA, TA LIM-MDZ, TA LIM-ANF and TA LIM-BSB.

Soon TA LIM-SLA will join that list. At the rate that both TA and LP are growing at LIM, a second runway will become essential for future growth. Also, it's good that our northern airports are receiving more international flights. Chile has invested a lot of money towards our secondary airports throughout the country, including ARI, ANF, CPO, IQQ, LSC, etc.

I know a drop in the bucket.....but....
AA has already included in their schedule one additional Dallas flight on Saturdays only during Feb, Mar, Apr, Jun, Jul and Aug next year to BZE...that would take it to 8Xweekly at various points in the year from DFW
Preemptive strike against F9 maybe.....nevertheless those DFW flight do very well for AA

I'm glad TACA is adding more non-stops to MIA. They have been getting quite a beating from AA and NK in south florida. I mean, how come TA only flies 1x E-190 a day between SJO and MIA?

I don't know the answer as Central America-US is under the Open Skies treaty.
TACA/LACSA faces both AA MIA-SJO 28x weekly and NK FLL-SJO 7x daily.
Prior to the entrance of Spirit Airlines in 2007, TA/LR did operate one extra daily flight serving MIA-SJO. That pure daylight flight was active on LACSA since the 70s and I've never understood the withdrawal of that operation.
In my view, TACA has a successful venture in Miami serving TA SAL-MIA, TA SAL-GUA-MIA, TA SAL-MGA-MIA, TA SAL-TGU-SAP-MIA, TA SJO-MIA and the seasonal TA SAL-RTB-MIA.
TA LIM-MIA 7x weekly comes on December 01st and TA SAL-TGU-MIA on November 15th.

Maybe MIA is indeed succesful, but they are way behind the competition. I mean, NK is always the third player in any of the markets they are serving except SJO. TA need to be more competitive, and I guess some important decisions will be coming from Bogotá in the near future.
In other news, CM's subsidiary, P5, has been fiven the name Copa Airlines Colombia, in an effort to consolidate the panamanian carrier's branding:

NH studying B787 NRT-PTY - In Spanish, from www.prensa.com
Panamanian newspaper reports The Panama Tourism Authority keeps saying that NH is studying a possible NRT-PTY B787 non-stop flight next year. 20-30% PTY O/D traffic, rest to feed CM hub. Flight would go 4 times per week
IMHO, it's quite unlikely NH could allocate 2 of its very own brand new B787 for such a new and odd route. For Panamá and NH, best is to start with a NRT-ANC-PTY widebody 3-4 times per week and from there upgrade to B787 non-stop, whenever there's demand.
Panama to improve airports In Spanish, from www.prensa.com
Panama is to invest several millions in airport improvement. Major improvements will be in DAV, ONX, PAC.
