To expand in Australia and Asia , Sriwijaya will sign their very first brand new planes purchase with Boeing for 10 738s.
They also need 60 medium planes , and are in talks with Embraer and ATR , and some other manufacturers.
Obviously they didn't have yet made their choice between jets and turboprops.
The other manufacturers they are talking about could be Bombardier (Q400) , China (MA60) , Japan (MRJ) and Russia (SSJ)..........all seems to be open.

Finally reality have woken up the dozyheads in SJ!
After years of saying yes no yes no yes no to having 738s, they finally have set the direction... BUT, the person they quoted as saying the company is to order the 738s, have been known to be "notoriously unreliable"...
They already had meetings with Embraer... but on ATR, they seem to be talking to the "used market intermediaries"... And they're also looking into using RJ80s/BAe146s... and have almost signed on it a few weeks back...
If they want 738s and/or anything new, the question is, how do they want to finance it? They have no/little financing history, and their financial system is a total nightmare as it stands today that financing institutions I've talked to have confided their "questions" regarding the accuracy. If they ended up getting finance, it's likely that some tin mine owned by the CEO & Chairman's family be put up as collateral!
