My friend called me from Pattaya to tell me that he is looking at a AN-225 descending towards Bangkok.

Flightware does not show any information.

My question is, is it landing at BKK or DMK?
I want to go out an take a photo today.

To be correct you have to say that THE An 225 is descending...   There is only one. It must be a great view.

Regardless, would like to know before spending a Sunday sitting in traffic trying to get between BKK and DMK.
I may head up to DMK when I wake up tomorrow. It's not too far from where I live.
BKK is way across town I would like to know for sure ahead of time.
Would be great if it sits there for more than a day.

Man2sin2bkk, I'll be staying in BKK next week about 2 miles east of DMK. Could you contact me through my profile email please?

If the aircraft had been seen around Pattaya (which is ca. 100 km from Bangkok), we could assume it was going from South.
Even for AN-225 it would be too much of a manuver if it was making southern approach to BKK or DMK while flying from the North.
Could it be a flight from SGN or SIN?

Could this have anything to do with the pending release/extradition of Viktor Bout?

The U.S. has had a plane at Bangkok waiting to take him back to the US and the Russians want to take him back to Russia. The Prime Minister was due to make a decision on his fate (to the U.S. or to Russia) on Friday, 8 Oct.

It's still possible. He didn't indicate if it was directly above or to the east.
The AN-225 was headed north and descending.

...and why would they use the AN-255 for this?

To transport all the needed personnel if there is a need for some sort of military action

I have been to Thailand so many times, and yet still not seen an AN-225, the only time I have ever seen it was in the air while I was on the highway in Las Vegas flying toward the East. (was at a low altitude, maybe going to Nellis?) cause I worked at LAS and did not see it on the ground.

I did see the AN-124 many times at DMK, along with some IL-76 once in a while. My favorite was the IL-76 Iraqi Airways I once saw at DMK

Is it possible that this plane might have been arriving UTP? because the AN-225 has visited U-Taphao before

The AN-225 departed CLT on the 4th of October. It was here to pick up a major power plant part that had to be repaired at the SIEMENS plant here in Charlotte,NC. When the AN-225 was here in June to drop the part off, it's route was from Thailand to ANC to CLT. When it left on the 4th, it went from CLT to BGR then to Iceland. I lost track after that. I have a lot of pictures of it here in June and last week but can not post them for some reason. Hope this helps everyone as to why it was in Thailand.

Thanks Ashley,
That makes sense because Siemens has a large presence here in Thailand.

Nice!
Do they still visit DMK?
Last month I did see a AN-12 depart out of DMK.
