Went to work last week on Iberia. On the Madrid-Malaga segment, the Flight attendant made this annoucement " this flight is in cooperation with our partner Mexicana Airlines"..

is MX still selling tickets?? why the annoucement if MX is grounded and about to "liquidate" according to sentidocomun.com.mx??

Probably because, like many F/As, he or she has no real interest in aviation, or the history of aviation and is indeed just reading from a script.

I think you guys might be right.

I suppose American already phased out the Mexicana part during the welcome PA announcement??

MX is still on the oneworld website (although there is a disclaimer that MX suspended ops on 8/28).

Top tier MX frequent fliers still receive their oneworld benefits on partner airlines.

I guess IB has decided to leave MX in their official on-board announcement until the fat lady sings. Hopefully MX will be back.

I recently took an IB flight from MAD to VLC, and prior to boarding it was also announced that the flight was also being code shared by Mexicana (among others) ...

Cheers
