Quoting captain777 (Thread starter): Just heard this rumor buzzing around, 5 A300's or 310's to be DRY leased from Canada don't know which company though.
I don't think there are any A300s in Canada, and the only A310 operator is Air Transat which currently has 13.
Ironically, two of Air Transat's A310s were once leased to KU for a couple of years in the early 1990s, as temporary replacements when much of their fleet was lost in the first Gulf War..

Well if thats the case it might be A310's from Air Transat... Since they had an older leasing agreement this will speed the process in terms of DGCA approval....
So How are Air Transat utilizing there 310's ?
Are some grounded most of the time or heavily operated ?
And are there engines GE or P&W ?
I also heard that KU will be responsible for any maintenance.....
the sky is the limit.............actually FL410 is the limit
During my time at TS, the A310s were heavily used on the Europe summer program. Now with that over with, I could see that TS could be the A300 lessor... if true.. that would be amazing.

Just found a very interesting document on the web although it doesn't have to do with the CURRENT leasing subject we are discussing, but still its interesting to see what a AMCI ( Aircraft Maintenance Crew Insurance ) requirement by KU looks like.

Wow that is super interesting, though after having a look at the specs, I would suspect that with TS limitations...the only aircraft suitable would be the A330. I do know that TS already will have 3 A330s based in Indonesia for the Hajj (actually I believe they are already there)... also there are two more A330s that have come from MX and are currently in for paintjob. Could it be an A330???

Dont know, the TS A310's seat 249, so only one seat off their requirement, though I doubt KU would like to put their pax through that nightmare - they wouldnt change the seating around on a dry lease. Their own 310's have 198 total pax, so very much more roomy. Then again, with the 2 MX A330's coming online, its been rumored the '10's will start leaving, so its possible, plus KU of course do have experience with the type and theirs do have CF6's too.
Good call! I know the 310s are getting old, but they do play a good role in connecting smaller gateways from eastern Canada, but hey if theres a potential for getting rid of them...then why not right?

Quoting Thorben (Reply 13): Either temporary lease of Air Transat's A310s for Hajj flights
KU never leased aircrafts for Hajj, usually they lease one A/C A330 from an Italian charter for the summer season only and one A320 to cover for domestic regional flights.

Quoting Thorben (Reply 13): My guess: Either temporary lease of Air Transat's A310s for Hajj flights or permanent lease of AC's A333s
I would highly doubt we would give up our A330s. The longhaul fleet is tied up right now so I don't think there is enough slack to let a few go. Plus, with the AVOD system that is just extra maintenance that they may not want to take on (what sort of IFE system does KU have now?).
