A380 Retro Livery-If And When?

Just wondering if there are any retro liveries planned for the A380. Who would do it and which scheme would look really cool? It would be a wild contrast to have an old livery on such a new aircraft! Any thoughts?

Not a fan of A380 here, but if I could ask for one retro livery on it, let it be BA Landor.

The Landor planes always looked distinguished. It's a shame BA got rid of that scheme.

Totally agree. One of my favourite liveries. It just looked classy.

What about EK...They could use their livery from the 70's....Errrr hang on a minute

why??? we have enough retro liveried a/c out there now... what would prompt an airline to retro a whale... when this trend started it was nice and unique, now everybody does it and it's becoming passe...

If they have to, wait until line #500...

Still beats the generic white fuselage/painted tail look.

What on earth was British Airways thinking when they got rid of that livery?

When Thai Airways get's their A380, I'd like to see it in a retro livery or even the previous Landor livery.
Of current A380 operators, I'd like to see a Lufthansa A380 in their 1970's livery.
The bottom was bare polished metal. Would that work on an A380?

Come to think of it, I'd like to see the Lufthansa 747-8I in their 1970s livery with the the bare polished metal under the fuselage.

I for one would love to see Qantas go one step beyond JT's 707 and paint one of their A380s in the old Flying Kangaroo scheme that was prominent in the 80's:

I think it would be a while before we see an A380 in retro colors. Marketing departments wouldn't let that happen. When airlines get an a380 they want people thinking forward, modern, often new seats, new product offerings. It wouldn't make sense then to paint it retro, they would most likely introduce a new livery than an old one.

Retro or not, I'd like a real "all plane colored" livery for the A380 ! I'm sure it would look better than the current liveries.

It's not retro exactly but I'd love to see Qantas paint an A380 in a similar fashion to the "Wunala Dreaming", "Nalanji Dreaming" or "Yananyi Dreaming" livery they used previously on the 747 and 737.

I think it would look great!

I heard on the grapevine that you may get your wish sooner than you think - that Nalanji is to make a comeback on an upcoming widebody twin. Fingers crossed!

Cant help but think the Wunala scheme would look amazing on an A380.

As for retro liveries -

BA Nagus with "British" titles - awesome.

ANA Mohican anyone

No, no and no!

I just don't get the spilled lasagna look of this livery.

QF is probably the best bet. Might not be a special colour scheme though, it might well be a stylised 90 logo, for the 90 year anniversary.

BA obviously did. They used both of those colour schemes on their own planes, and even went one further with an additional colour scheme too. They are incredibly good looking in the metal - not many planes have the breathtaking visual impact of these two Wunala and Nalanji Dreaming.

Not lasagna at all. These are highly regarded aviation art work by famous Indigenous first Australians. I would love to see an a380 in the next version of these themes.

It's all a matter of opinion.
I personally think they look awful.
Not discrediting it's historic an cultural reference. I think these designs would have been nice on a bulkhead divider or as a carpet in their first class lounge at the airport. But to paint it on an aircraft looks tacky to me.

Probably none of them, since the proportions of the A380 and the planes those liveries appeared on and were designed for are rather different.

I painted up that Freedom of Space colour scheme on a B747-8i in Flight Simulator X. Looks awesome on the elongated B747. It'd be even better on the A380 since there is more space on the side to fit the details like the ribbon containing the "Malaysia" logotype.

Personally, I don't think we'll see a retro A380 any time soon. The current retro aircraft tend to be single aisle (AA738, LH A321 etc. ) and I doubt the current economic climate favours spending the extra money required to put a one-off custom paint job on a massive wide-body.

A Qantas A380 in one their stunning Aborigini liveries would be real eye catcher. I wonder how much paint they would need.
