Why More 727s In Charter Use Than 732s?

The 727 hasn't been in regular Part 121 systemwide service for years, same as it's twin-engined cousin B732. One would think that the third engine and higher operating costs of the 727 over the 732 would have put the 732 in the top spot for second-hand VIP/charter use, yet I tend to see more flying 727s these days in charter use than 732s.

Is it range? What's missing in my formula that puts the 727 ahead of the 732 in today's charter use?

Larger capacity, meaning more economic operations. You would need more 732s to carry the same cargo volumes.
