Exits On The 757-20

I recently realized that the 757-200 has 2 different configurations for the over wing exits. One has a door right behind the wing on each side like the A321, and another with two exits over the wing on either side like in the A320. What is the reason and difference for the two different configurations, and why would an airline want one or another?

Hi there,

I think it depends on the number of rows you can have in a B757-200. With the overwing exits you can have a row at each overwing exit and with 4 passenger doors you have at least 2 rows less for the one door.

A slight correction to originators post, the second configuration actually has 3 doors AND 2 overwing exits.

Config 1 - 3 Door/2 Hatch (11331) Type 1 Doors and Type 3 OWE
Config 2 - 4 Door (1111) All Type 1 Doors
