Any chance of AA getting better times for ORD-BJS in the next year?

Surprisingly, I've heard the flight is doing better than expected given the times allocated.

The flight is doing ok. It would be doing a lot better if it had times that were worth a crap.

I do know that Horton met with the Chinese Ambassador to the US in Fort Worth last week. Word is that the ORD-PEK times were part of the subject matter in the meeting.

Hope it straightens out. Have to take this flight in March.

I have several friends on 5 and 6 at AA HQ (some next to the "God Pod" and "Fish Bowl" that have been very reliable sources. They seem to think they will get better times next spring/summer). I did hear that Tim, Bella, and Gerard were all involved in the talks.

Looking at the schedule now, AA is selling flights for the better slot times starting in March. However, I don't know if this means anything because they've already done this more than once and have had to make a relatively last minute schedule change each time.

Honestly, its not up to them and the Chinese government is unpredictable. I sure hope they do. Its kind of stupid they have the times they do. I have heard since last May that they are getting better times. Its one of those thing Im going to have to see to believe Im afraid.

The times really aren't the end of the world. I believe AA is really only serving PEK O&D here, whilst UA needs better times in order to link up with CA who provides onward connectivity into China (and possibly other parts of Asia as well). Businesspeople - they key driver of this flight - are very used to getting in late at night and having to catch early morning flights. Especially those who work in other booming developing markets like India, which AA also serves from ORD.

I've heard the new times are a given. This is also said to be political, but I don't want this to be a political issue, but it may be. If AA is promoting new times, they must know something we don't know or my friends won't tell me (unless I get a few drinks in them!).

No body at AA has a clue even if they tell you they do. At some point, AA probably will get the times they want. However, if you have someone telling you they know when the times will shift, they are guessing. To be perfectly honest, nobody at AA has a clue when they will get the times the want. They can only guess.

AA had the new times scheduled from day one. I was personally affected by it last year. I bought a ticket for the "good" ORD-PEK times and AA had to switch the times to the "bad" ORD-PEK times. Since I refused to go on the bad times, I was accommodated on DFW-NRT-PEK.

The bottom line is that just because AA loaded the times they want, it really means nothing until the first flight leaves at the time the want.

AA will be reapplying for improved times again at the IATA S11 slot conference Nov11-14.
