B6, the official airline of the NY Jets, will be unveiling their specially painted aircraft today at their Technical Operations Center at JFK today with (as usual) a big party. When I left the hangar last night they were rolling out the green "turf" on the hangar floor and the plane was due to arrive under the cover of darkness (at about 3am).

Just my luck, I am not at the hangar today and am at my second job. Hopefully some fellow crewmembers of mine will be able to post some pics for this forum??? PLEEEEASE!!

I just saw it. WOW! WOW!

I was over at the hangar taking care of something and peeked in.

You will ALL be very surprised!

I'll just say that it is not just a few stickers this time...

Anything would surprise me. I asked my fellow crewmembers for the EO on the paintjob and nobody could find it, they weren't included. Even the folks down in SLW were hush hush. This was more under-cover than the 10th anniversary plane or the Blueberry paint job!

Not sure of the EXACT time of the unveiling, the intranet was showing 2pm. I'm waiting for some of my co-crewmembers to send me some pics and I'm monitoring the Flickr feed http://www.flickr.com/groups/b6/ too. UGH, it sucks when they have a big party at my building and I'm not there on that day LOL!!!

I sort of thought that would be the case. Any shots of the tail?

Also, in a logical move, JetBlue has teamed up with DIRECTV (of course) to offer NFL Sunday Ticket on their 'planes. Every Sunday, 14 out-of-market games will be broadcast at no charge to JetBlue jetters and Jets fans jetting on JetBlue. http://www.hd-report.com/2010/09/30/...adds-nfl-sunday-ticket-to-flights/

Why didn't B6 choo$e the NY Giants as their team colors match the airline? Although I must admit, this livery looks really awesome. My congratulations to the NY Jets!

I think picking the NY Jets was a pretty obvious choice. Not only does it represent the NFL team, but it's also a sentence. New York jets. Since jetBlue doesn't "fly" anywhere, they "jet", and their New York's hometown airline, it's a BRILLIANT play on words.

Funny you mention that, we just received a communication stating that the term "Jetting" will be slowly removed from all Jetblue Advertising and communications over the next month.

We are now starting a new advertising campaign that is pretty good actually.

I always find it odd that the NFL teams tend to not use anything smaller than a 757, yet when you look at all of the NFL logojets (Air Tran, US Airways, now jetBlue) none of them are on planes that the team could actually fly on to their away games.

@metjetceo, you are right. It also makes me wonder since most teams usually don't use anything smaller than a 757, how do the jets and their entourage, baggage, etc. squeeze into an A320?

While it is odd, you have to remember that if they put it on a 767 or something like that, it would mostly be doing international trips, where the logo wouldn't have nearly as much impact. If a CO Giants logojet on a 764 (for example) were to show up in FCO, most people would wonder "what the hell is that for?". And unless you live in EWR or IAH, you'd never see it. It makes more sense to put the logojets on routes where they will be noticed and appreciated.

Not only does the plane look great, but personally, as a Jets fan, I am very excited. Too bad B6 doesn't operate to YYZ. I can't wait for the first official a.net photo of this plane to be uploaded, it will make an excellent background on my computer, Blackberry, and anything else I can find a use of the photo for.

Could this be because there is a difference between the "Official Airline" and the airline they charter for away games. I can't find the thread of NFL charters, but it didn't seem that US Airways always took the Steelers, Cardinals, and Panthers to away games, unless I read something wrong. Same goes for FL and the Falcons. This seems more like an advertising venture by the airlines, like when they say "This quarter is sponsored by US Airways, the official airline of the Pittsburgh Steelers."

This could also be because some airlines don't have a dedicated charter fleet, and thus wouldn't be able to guarantee the aircraft would always be available for the trip. AC has 4 (5?) A320's in Jetz configuration, and when U2 chartered them, they changed the livery. I also recall AC having a Toronto Raptors livery at one point, but I can't recall if it was a Jetz aircraft or more an advertisement.

Go Jets!!!

B6 has been kind of slow with this.

They are also the official airline of the Red Sox and Dodgers, yet no plane.
