I've just returned from Fiji on V Australia and was wandering when did Qantas stop flying from Australia into Fiji with their on metal? Wikipedia says that they did indeed fly there but then again Wikipedia is not the god given truth

Qantas has had a shareholding in FJ for many years. It would have been round about 1984 that Qantas transferred a 747 to Air Pacific, which was painted in rainbow colours. Qantas still did some flights after that, like MEL-NAN-HNL-LAX and Qantas did NAN-LAX before FJ started that route.
The first FJ only worked part time for FJ and it appeared on other parts of the QF network on other days of the week. I saw it doing a CHC-SYD sector once. That 747 was replaced by a very old 747 (three windows on the upper deck).

BNE-NAN discontinued in the late 70's (was a 1 day a week 707 - QF571)
SYD-NAN discontinued 6 Jan 96. This was QF17/18 SYD-NAN-LAX and return twice per week with a 744.
MEL-NAN discontinued between Nov 99 and Mar 2001. Mar 99 schedule shows QF195/196 op 1 day a week with a 763, this flight not appearing in the Mar 2001 schedule. Cant find my 2000 schedules at this point. Still, gives you a fair idea when it all ceased with regular QF metal, cheers
