Recently, in a german (non-aviation) magazine, there was a photo of CO 727 over the famous St Maarten beach. The article related to vacancies and for what you could sue the touristic company. You guess, the plain BS as ever....
What intrigued me was the opinion of a friend of mine who said, at least one hotel at St Maarten(SXM) - a one where you could watch the planes land from your window is extremely expensive because it is overcrowded with spotters.
Anybody there who could provide additional details(the Hotel's name, prices) and prove or deny this?

I've been looking into going to SXM and myself (don't shoot! not JUST for airplanes, it's a nice place too!), and honestly i don't think the rates are too too high. not much more than other places. I have seen packages for one week at the maho beach hotel (which I believe is the one juust to the north (?) of the flight path for only around $1000 CDN AIRFARE INCLUDED. (from YYZ). This does not seem too outlandish to me, but i suppose maybe they charge for for windows on the "good" side of the hotel? anywasy the beach is right outside anywawy, you can just go there instead i would think. ah well, hope to go there next year if i can scrounge the cash...
