Saw this new route on their website this afternoon and thought there'd be a thread on it already!

Have I missed something?

Of all the San-Somebody cities out there, how did San Diego manage to snag the SAN code?   Just wonderin'

The info on it is in that tread there, a new thread is not started for every new route when an airline starts a few at the same time

I can find a few press releases dated October 10, and yes, it is starting on March 28.

Cuz San Diego is in 'UHMURIKAH!

Luck of the draw. I'd wonder why Pori, Finland got the 'POR' code while Portland OR and ME got 'stuck' with PDX and PWN respectively.

So enlightened I glow in the dark.

Actually its not in that thread BA Restarts LHR-SAN June 2011 (by san88 Oct 6 2010 in Civil Aviation). There is a link in there however to yet another thread about AA starting new routes (SJU may be mentioned in there; its very lengthy).

Where is this rule that states a new route can't have a specific thread? Not everything is about AA/BA ATI.

I think this thread is a perfect example of why the SFO, SAT and SJU codes are more desirable than "SAN"
