I have a question about the old IFE systems on DL's 762s (now retired) and domestic 763s (now upgraded to AVOD). In 1996, I remember flying a DL 767 (not sure if it was a 762 or 763) that had a floppy pull-down projection screen. However, my more recent pre-AVOD domestic 767 flights (762 in 2005 and 763 in 2006 and 2007) had screens that the FAs manually flipped up (except for the screen bulkhead near the overwing exits on the 763, which was simply fixed onto the bulkhead wall).

I was wondering, did the type of screen vary by particular aircraft, or were the pull-down screens replaced by flip-up screens after 1996? Is there any particular advantage to the flip-up screens over the floppy pull-down ones?
