Great news for U.S. carriers today as they reported results for Q3. I really hope this is the turn around point for another aquiles heel....customer service. I don't expect items like bag charges to go away (although WN is growing even more thanks to this), but better service specially on international coach. I have been in many flights in the last two months and catering, FA attitude and airplane standards are sub par. One dares to dream.....

I seriously doubt WN's growth can be attributed to the lack of bag fees. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great they don't do it, but it's not really a factor in how many new routes or frequencies one starts up.

Interesting, my experience has been different. Then again, I assume you fly UA often, and I haven't flown on them in a few years

I don't know how quickly things will improve with the crews. One reason the Q3 results are doing this well (and there are quite a few), is because of the consolidation that has been happening. Companies merging, reducing capacity, staff, etc. That doesn't make for the best atmosphere for those in the industry. Yes, the profits will raise the spirits quite a bit, but you have this "Merging Mania" thing looming over your head at the same time.

I was aiming actually to AA. I flew 10 intl sectors to/from deep south america on 757/763 on C and Y. I also flew LAN.....night and day difference. Planes more than obsolete (specially AA 757 Business product) and cranky FA (specially in the back). No PTV on 763 ot 757, horrible catering......Something got to change.....

airplane standards

According to DL CEO the primary focus the next two years will bed debt reduction. Once in check, they will order many nive new airplanes
