Delivery Of Garuda's 777's?

Just Wondering When Garuda is ment to take delivery of there new 777's.

Delivery of the first of ten planned B77W is now scheduled for early 2012. The plan to launch nonstop Europe flights with these aircraft has been postponed for a year as the airline is struggling to make its CGK DXB AMS route work.

Fifth freedom rights are available on the DXB AMS DXB sectors. The route has been performing reasonable during the summer months, but loads during the upcoming slow weeks look abysmal. GA had planned to take delivery of up to 3 B77Ws in 2011 and launch a nonstop CGK AMS with these aircraft, while switching the A332 from the current CGK DXB AMS to CGK DXB FRA/LGW, but these plans have been delayed to 2012.

Seriously... why? Were they expecting to compete with EK without slashing their prices down eroding their profits even further? Do they not have enough 77Ws to make FRA / LGW nonstop?

Any plans to codeshare with KLM to get traffic feed from their extensive European operations? And is GA still codesharing flights with MH to AMS now that they are flying with their own metal?

There is much more capacity on the AMS-DXB than there was before the arrival of EK last May and GA last June.

Before then KL enjoyed a monopoly so it meant the total number of flights has risen from around 12 a week to around 27 a week. Yields must have fallen.

Just going slightly off topic, anyone know what's the deal with the 737s? They've been taking brand new ones at up to 4 per month for the past year!    They're nearly outdoing AA with the deliveries.

I wonder if they regret cancelling their 787s; going from 332s to 77Ws is quite an ambitious jump.

There has been a good few changes since the airline stopped its 744 operations; EK was in business then, but has expanded hugely since then, as have EY and QR, both of which serve CGK and offer lots of connections.

Not sure what 787 order you are talking about; according to Beoing's Order and Deliveries page, GA never had a direct order with Boeing for 787s.

I think they should convert the order to 77Ls that would make nonstop flights to the US possible and they have less capacity as well.

Their fares from Australia are hardly cheap in J class, around $6200 AUD, which is getting up near the other majors.

GA's making a brave move here. Their fares ex-SIN has been on an upsurge ever since the re-branding. JCL fares SIN-DPS-SYD is now a whopping SGD4600.00 compared to just SGD2100.00 a few years ago. I agree they are inching towards the big boys so I am hoping this gamble they are taking pays off.

The airline looks promising now but...... there are some "kinks" within the airline which I believe is a leftover from the good-old-days which still needs to be ironed out. This will take time to eradicate.

I do a lot of cargo shipments with this airline to RUH via CGK and their schedules seems most unreliable. Flights get cancelled and moved around like you would change underwear daily. I guess when you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

Going a bit off topic here too, but i fly the CGK-CUB-CGK route about once every 2 weeks. and equipment has always been the new B738 for some time now. However, since July, every flight i have been on has been delayed anywhere between 20 mins to 1 hour time. this is pretty frustrating for me too as i am usually on a day trip and delay on departure and a delay again coming back ..does make my work schedule a little more unmanageable. the usual comment from the crew is always ..."sorry for the delay due to late arrival of this aircraft" .....
