SIA will order new aircrafts from Boeing and Airbus:

8 A388
2 A333
20 A350-900
20 B787-9:

I really hope that brings the arguments on a.net to an end, that the B789 and A359 will offer nearly the same performance.
SIA don´t agree...Both a/c complement each other very well.

Let us wait for it to be signed before we open the bottle - looks like to be launch costumor of the A380 hasn't broken their neck.

The link doesn't work, maybe you can adjust it.

It would be interesting to know moe about the 789 - A359 considerations. How flexible are those contracts, is it risk sharing, dual source..

Interesting, it looks like they have already exercised their options on the 789 as well as the a359. I wonder if they also will add additional options for these aircraft.

And apparantly they are happy with the a333 and a380 as well. Very nice order if true

So is that 80 359's and 789's in total (including existing orders)? That would about replace their A340-500/777-200/777-200ER/777-300/A330-300 fleet. The A380's would replace their 747-400's. That leaves the 19 777-300ER's (in my theoretical glance), which could be a battle between the A351 and the 777-300ERX. Maybe.

Woaw, interesting news! Thanks for sharing the information. Recently, we had so many threads about rejected take-offs and so on that this is a nice change.

Would be great to see a new A 380-order others than additional EK-A380s.

We are reading it wrongly. It's NOT GOING TO ORDER but HAS outstanding orders for 8 A388, 2 A333, 20 A350-900, 20 B787-9. Which is wrong too considering that the last 2 A333s were delivered a couple of weeks ago.

Also, SALE is not longer part of the SIA group. Was sold to BOC a few years back. Poor journalism.

G'day

With the 19th and final A 380 presently on order by SQ due for delivery in January 2012 and likely already in production the timing looks right for a follow-on order. That way continuity in deliveries can be maintained.

Cheers

Well, based on the 20+20 numbers, it seemed similar to what they would already have coming.

I'm pretty sure I can read Bahasa Indonesia without using Google Translate.

Indeed, those numbers are their current backlog, not new orders.

Obviously, it's very unlikely for a PR manager to spill the beans about an order at an airline like SIA.
