It's Official! The Last BA 757 Flight Is...

... from Edinburgh to London Heathrow departing at 19:35 and arriving at 21:00 on Saturday, 30th October. Flight number: BA1463

For those interested, the outbound to Edinburgh is BA1454 departing LHR at 17:25, arriving at 18:50.

Link: http://press.ba.com/?p=1514

I realise that this has been discussed on another thread but those were purely speculations, and now the details have been confirmed.

I think it would be appropriate to use this thread as a farewell to the British Airways Boeing 757-200, which was the backbone of shorthaul operations for nearly two decades (prior to the Airbus onslaught) and has been in the fleet as a whole for nearly three decades.

I wonder how British Airways will celebrate this occasion!

The aircraft operating the flight is G-CPET, painted in the retro scheme.

I'd say fairly firm speculation given ba.com has been listing those flights as a 757 for the last few weeks  .

Very much so... I am hoping the final flight will involve a full thrust take-off in its honour!

I think she's pretty how she is dressed.   She is wearing her first dress she got in 1983, she stored her dress in her dressing room when she got a new dress two years later, and another dress fifteen years after, and now she took out her first dress that was secretly kept in her closet between 1985 and now.

I would definitely do the final flight if I were in London and if I had the time.
But never mind, I flew on a 757 not too long ago.
I wish you all a pleasant journey.

Quoting 330lover (Reply 3):
Correct, together with IB and FI.

Finnair, El Al and DHL still fly them. Not sure about Thomas Cook, but they did so a few years ago.
I remember Air Belgium had one.

I have flown on a BA 757 once in my life, from LHR to BRU in 1999.

Quoting brightcedars (Reply 2):

Come to the United States, there are tons of them. American, Delta and United still have a lot of them and for several more years to come. US Airways has a few left, Fed Ex and UPS fly those as freighters, but the three most important operators of the type are the Big 3 I mention.

OK, I know, i should think and check further before posting.

AY still operates them, but AFAIK only on their leisure/charter flights.
Condor is one more.
Does Easyjet still have theirs?

I fancy doing this on Saturday, will the short turn around prove a problem to arriving passengers, will we get back on in time having gone through all the checks?

Just print off both your boarding cards before you go... Because it is a domestic flight you will come off the plane into the gate waiting area so will not have to go through security again.

Right. That's how it was when I flew on American's 727 final flight MIA-TPA-MIA back in 2002. When I arrived in TPA, I just stayed near the gate and re boarded the same aircraft at the same gate about an hour later. No security check point, no passport control, it's exactly like connecting between two domestic flights on the same airline in the same terminal.

If your boarding pass is not scanned at security will they allow you to board when they scan it at the gate?

The airport security checks are not part of the airline system.. they simply scan the pass to ensure people don't try to come through twice with the same boarding pass. You will be fine.
