Found these on another board, rumor or fact? Maybe FATflyer can shed some light.

In the conference call this week they talked about Hawaii being delayed until mid-summer 2011 due to the ETOPS process. But I couldn't pick up on anything about a schedule for the 757s being used on the mainland between now and then. So they are parking them temporarily until the type is added to the certificate and they can be used on the mainland.

Speaking of the 757s, N902NV is in livery but it is the new version which is different than N901NV's in the picture at the link. The new livery replaces the web URL with the new tagline "Travel is our deal" and the sunburst on the tail is now yellow in the center and a gradient to orange on the outside to match the company name logo.

Why not try something like a coast to coast trip between business and tourist centers?

This was anticipated and expected. EIS of a new fleet type involving a new ETOPS certification takes time, and is often outpaced by the "made ready for flight" status of the actual airframes.

Google N902NV and you can find a few (like 2) Allegiant-released photos of the updated livery. The branding decision for "Travel is our deal" must have been made after N901NV painting approval.

I haven't been surprised by the talk. The original statements from Allegiant executives were a timeline of in service in January/February of 2011 but I'm not surprised it will take more time.

I actually kinda like it. I think the logo looks better (over the titles) on this one.

Man, those G4 757s do look sharp. Hopefully G4 will be able to put them in service in time for the busy summer travel season! I guess this means G4 will have to cleverly utilize its LGB slots for a bit longer than originally anticipated  .

Is it an ETOPS things or an entry-in-service paperwork/FAA thing?

If it is the former, any chance they could deploy they on their Las Vegas or Florida routes?

There was a rumor a while back of G4 temporary/seasonal LAS routes from the eastern Midwest/East Coast using the 757s. For some reason, it was pulled, as TOL was rumored to have received the LAS service before G4 told them "no".

Disappointing 3rd Qtr results, additional competition and the move back to Sanford. Sounds like a rethink of the expansion of the airline.

That's my take. Paperwork, certifications, permits etc can also be deliberately slowed down by the airline. I will bet that is what is going on here. When the economy picks up, watch the process go faster.

They could always use the 757 for DOD charters, and just for charters in general.

Maybe WN's "bags fly free" campaign is partially eating into G4's results. Even though WN is rarely the cheapest option on many routes, I wonder if pax are driving to WN-served airports instead of G4's small-city local airports simply by knowing that they'll be saving on bag fees. Could we see a "drive a little, save your sanity" ad campaign from WN? I wouldn't put it past them.

I agree on the competition growing: Direct Air is growing and NK is starting to enter G4-type small markets. If WN enters more smaller markets after the FL merger, G4 might have to watch out.

Just my two cents.

Do we have any idea where the Hawaii routes will be or is that still a mystery?

Still a mystery, even with G4's latest schedule update.

Allegiant said in the recent conference call that they probably will not begin Hawaii until the middle of summer 2011. For competitive reasons I doubt we will know any routes for at least another 3 or 4 months, in the conference call they made it clear they are playing it close to the vest.
