Hi,

On Friday afternoon, as I pulled in to Terminal C in DFW, I noticed a DL744 being unloaded in Terminal E. Today I connected in DFW again, and the same aircraft was parked at Terminal E's small satellite. My guess: diverted to DFW on Friday and currently awaiting repairs?

It's the Giants charter for the World Series.

Why would a baseball team need to charter a 747? Wouldn't a 737/757 do just fine???

Not if they're carrying family, VIP guests, and maybe the press? Plus, the 747 is way cooler. Why not if money isn't an issue?

What would be more expensive to charter, 1-747-400....or....2-757-200s?

I would be willing to bet that a few extra people tag along on the World Series games than in the regular season.

I used to watch Delta 747's land and take off during recess at Holy Family school on Esters Rd. and 183 back in the 70's. Never thought I'd hear of DL 74's in Dallas again. Things really do come full circle.

Now if I heard of TI DC9s, Rio Metroliners or BI 727's in Dallas...that would be great.

I figured since the Giants arrived on Friday and leave Tuesday, the aircraft would do revenue flights, instead of sitting on the ground.

They are not flying back yet. They still have game 4 to play today against Texas. Also, they will use a Delta call sign.

You mean Game 5 tonight on 11/1. The aircraft is parked by the Terminal E satelite. They're heading back to SFO late tonight either way. The Giants will either be going back home as the World Series Champs, or going back to play Game 6 on Wednesday.

Boring!? Shame on you! Since when is any airplane boring?! We're anutters here, we love them, what ever they are. Now granted some paint schemes leave a lot to be desired. Oh and JFK777, I hope you know Im teasing you.

I think Vegas Heat is the callsign for Corporate Flight International out of LAS. Small operation.

I know for a fact (I work for the Phillies) that this was the first time in the past 3 years of being in the playoffs that the Phillies have used a 747....

During the regular season and in prior postseason trips they always used a 767.

Even during the World Series in 2008 they chartered a 767 for the players/families to fly down to Tampa and then chartered a second 767 a day later for all of us front office people and our guests to fly down and join the team.

Note: The trip out to SF this year was actually my first ever time on a 747.

As a long suffering Reds fan, may I say with all due respect.....Could you not at least allow them a single game? And then the nerve to post about flying around the country in a chartered 747?! Damn you!

This isn't flying. This is falling.....with style.

KINDFlyer I suffer with you. I am a Tigers fan, at least you got to see the post season. I know that the Tigers usually had a DL A320 for there charters this year since the Red Wings DC9 was going thru checks. When they were in the World Series in 2006 they chartered 2 NW B757, 1 for the team/family and 1 for the front office staff.
